Hoya YHDPOLC082 HD Polfilter Circular Super Multi Coated for 82 mm Filter

This filter despite of its high price does not fit the 77mm lens (Sigma 50mm F1.4 DG HSM Art Lens for Canon).It is impossible to keep it on the lens for more than a couple of seconds, it jumps off the lens. I am not sure if it is only our filter that is faulty or it is just crap in general. Anyway it does not fit my 77mm lens and after being on a holiday we wanted to return it but it is too late now to return or exchange it with the properly working one. Just AVOID, do not waste your money and time.

OK, before I say how brilliant this polariser is we need to clarify one thing, not all polarisers are created equal and a cheaper polariser, even a good one, will knock off a few extra stops of light. In fact in my experience even good hoya ones will kill your ability to shoot hand held in anything but sunshine.However this is a beauty of a polariser and as it states it let's in more light, which it does very well indeed. Been shooting now for a month with this filter and I can honestly say its the best I've ever used, can be a bit tight once it's on but let's face it you don't want to unintentionally unscrew it when you're out and about.5tars all round

Sono assolutamente sicuro che dal 1990 (anno in cui ho iniziato a fare fotografia) ad oggi, i soli filtri che abbia mai acquistato - che si trattasse di UV, Polarizzatori Circolari, di conversione, ND o semplici Protector - si chiamano "Hoya". Non è per riconoscenza, infatuamento o caparbietà, è, più che altro, per una questione di "qualità" costruttiva e "resa" ottica. Ho potuto provare anche filtri più blasonati di questi, prestati da colleghi ma, la differenza riscontrata, pur essendoci, non giustifica la sproporzione di prezzo a parità di oggetto.Questo Polarizzatore circolare fa egregiamente il suo lavoro a patto che:1°- Il fotografo sia in grado di capire se, in quel determinato contesto e momento, stia facendo lavorare il filtro correttamente. Scordatevi una corretta polarizzazione della luce se il sole è alle vostre spalle dal momento in cui ogni polarizzatore funziona solo se la fonte di luce presente nella scena è a 90° rispetto al soggetto.2°- Che la quantità della luce sia sufficente a far lavorare il filtro. Può sembrare una banalità ma, a volte succede che, presi dallo scatto, non ci si accorga che il sole è momentaneamente velato da nuvole o sia un pò calato (e quindi viene meno la regola dei 90°), oppure se ne sia proprio andato!3°- Una volta montato sull'obiettivo si abbia l'accortezza di girare la lente mobile frontale con il solo dito indice. Qualunque manovra effettuata in contemporanea con dito indice e pollice, innescherà la possibilità di ruotare accidentalmente "anche" la ghiera di attacco filtro, con il rischio di svitare piano piano il filtro dall'obiettivo fino alla sua caduta. Questa eventualità è propria di ogni filtro con struttura "slim", ma basta saperlo.4°- Si accetti il fatto che qualunque filtro montato sull'obiettivo inneschi una più o meno visibile vignettatura, dovuta in grandissima parte all'ingombro della montatura del filtro stesso. L'altezza della montatura del Polarizzatore Hoya è di "appena" 4mm, e dubito che possiate trovare (nella categoria "Polarizzatori Circolari") ingombri minori di questo.Un ultima considerazione sulla "leggerezza" dell'effetto polarizzante rispetto ad altri brand: questo HD Hoya è un POLARIZZATORE, non un Neutral Density o un Digradante! Il pola serve solo ed esclusivamente a tagliare la luce che giunge sulla lente frontale da una determinata direzione per annullare l'effetto specchio su superfici altamente riflettenti e non a scurire il celo ed evidenziare le nuvole. I filtri polarizzatori che evidenziano in modo marcato quest'ultima peculiarità hanno sicuramente un assorbimento di luce maggiore di 1 EV, e costringono di conseguanza ad esposizioni più lunghe; con tutti i pro ed i contro del caso.Per me consigliabilissimo.

Hoya 77mm HD Polarizing Filter.This a must have if photographing in bright light, especially when taking photos around water.Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colours providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.A brilliant all rounder kept in my camera bag at all times.

I bought this polarising filter in mid-June after reading a review of polarising filters in "Advanced Photographer", in which it was awarded "Best in Test", but was rather expensive. It was a pleasant surprise to find it available from Amazon at just over 1/3rd of the usual price.I have now used it for about 6 weeks and I am very pleased indeed with it's performance. It works really well darkening blue skies, improving contrast between clouds and sky, and brightening the landscape generally. It has improved my landscapes considerably. It reduces reflections in water quite well, but did not remove reflections in images that I took in an aquarium, although perhaps this was too much to ask.It is very easy to use and is so thin and transparent that I hardly noticed it on the camera, it certainly did not reduce exposure by any noticeable degree. The front, rotating element of the filter has an arrow marked on it which made it very easy to reset to a standard position between shots. This feature made it quick to set for different photographs, with different lighting. It was also very easy to keep clean over a longish period of use, even greasy finger marks and damp spots came off easily. One very small niggle is that the back filter element is so thin that to remove the filter from the camera I had to hold the front of the lens very firmly indeed to start the filter's screw turning.In summary, I can thoroughly recommend this polariser.
