Crown377 & 376 Scrapers Set and Scraper Burnisher (3 Piece)

I am refinishing an antique oak dining room table made with oak veneer over oak (go figure). I didn't want to chemically strip it for fear of loosening the veneer. And it would have taken a long time to get through the old lacquer with sand paper. So I YouTubed the issue and found out a lot about using card scrapers for that purpose. I got this set and after watching several card scraper sharpening videos, it prepared the set and have now pretty well stripped the old surface. It was great to have the hone included and the tools work like a charm for my needs.

Dunno what's up with the shipping on this item. Despite all the negative reviews concerning shipping I took a chance. Good news is that the burnisher is pretty nice. Well made with a smooth and solid feel. Good handle too. Got good edges no problem. Bad news (if you can call it that) is that they sent me 2 rectangular scrapers instead of the curved ones I wanted/needed. After doing some math I just kept them as I need some for my work tool kit. Just ordered the blue curved ones later.

Excellent set. Great scrapers, perfect burnisher. Put together and you're in business. I youtubed how to properly get a burr on these which I do advise doing if you aren't sure how to sharpen them. There is a very specific way to do it and you need to do it in order and have your angles correct. Using wooden guides will help as well.

I like to bend a scraper when I use it. These are too stiff for me to do that. Maybe I'm just getting old, but my hands are pretty strong, so I think most who bend scrapers will find them a little thick.
