What is the different between dcb609y and dcb609?

"Y" do you ask? Ahem... in all seriousness, there is no reason given on Dewalt's website. Additionally, it looks like they only sell one version of the DCB609 battery. It's possible they changed some of the battery chemistry, and the "Y" denotes the newer model. I looked on Amazon, and I can't find a single DCB609 battery for sale other than the "Y" version. The only other version available is the DCB609-2, which is the 2-pack of the DCB609. If you want an official answer, I would contact Dewalt at http://www.dewalt.com/en-us/support. My answer is not a clear-cut one, but I hope that helped! On a side note, these batteries are awesome. I bought it for our 60v joist drill, but now my employees prefer to use the 60v battery over our 20v batteries on our 20v tools.

No, the 36V and 20/60V are not interchangeable.

Has anyone used this with any Dewalt blowers and got a satisfactory run time?

Yes. I use 6AH and 9AH both with blower and with air compressor. Never had a problem. Much better than the 2AH that come with drills, impact drivers, etc. that run down pretty quick. My Dewalt blower is a small handheld DCBL 722 20V.blower.
