Good idea but needs refinement
It's a good idea, to use the tow hook female thread for this purpose. However execution needs work:1. As another reviewer noted, it spins without a rubber bushing/washer to keep it in place. Even after installing said washers from Home Depot, I do not feel it is fully stable in the level position.2. No instructions. Yes it's largely intuitive, but it would be nice to have info on say, which of the nine holes are suited to certain vehicles. Also, I still don't know if I installed the plate backwards, or if it even matters (the "holes" have convex and concave sides, not sure which one is front)3. Would be good to have a depth adjuster; this could be a simple screw adjustment mechanism and doesn't have to be fancy or expensive. The back of the mounting plate sticks out a good bit from my X5 (E70). I did discard the large bolt that came with it, helping by about 1/2", but could use another 1" or so of proximity to the bumper. Concerned about tapping the car in front of me when parallel parking.4. Not sure what can be done here, but this is really the biggest issue. The plate as installed is in the field of 'vision' of the front proximity sensor and sets it off at "full beep" each time I start the car and every time I try to park it or even at low speeds. Once up to speed (15mph?) it turns off, thankfully, else it would be untenable.

Good price, decent quality
My first tow hook license plate mount! Thought I would only use it for inspection and then take it off, but it actually worked nicely so I will just leave it on. It doesn't stick out as much as some other reviews on my car, it's a 2011 E92 Coupe.Giving it a 4 stars because I have to add rubber washers here and there to prevent it from moving. After adding some washers, it didn't even move a bit after driving on highway--New England's highway. Only time it moved/tilted was by snow accumulations on it.Can't beat the price, could be better in quality tho.

Good but far from vehicle body
Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase, but we'll see how it goes with time. The screws and bolts are probably fine, but for this price don't expect stainless steel (as I didn't). The hardware surfaces were easily marred by plyers during assembly, so hopefully this will last through the winter. The customization of placement is really nice, but as pictured this extends pretty far from the vehicle body. If I parallel parked more often, I might be more worried.

The layout of this unit is not great for something mobile
it does the job, however I had to add 2 additional rubber washers so this unit doesn't spin when mounted. The layout of this unit is not great for something mobile. I would like to see a better design. for this price its ok, just do yourself a favor and pick up a couple rubber washers so it doesn't spin.

Good cheap plate holder.
Pretty good. Have to tighten the middle but hard so plate won’t spin on the bolt, even then it still tends to move. Hardware started to rust after 2 months, but can’t really see the rust because it’s on the backside of the plate.

Works great on a Mini Cooper
Some of the reviews say this is sticks out too far so I thought I might have to cut this down but it actually sticks out just enough. Works great on a Mini Cooper and you can even re-use the Coopers plate bracket if you want to add some stiffness to it.For $14 it does it's job and works just as good as the $80 mounts (which is way over priced for a piece of metal)

I liked it, but it was a pain to install it.
You won’t be able to install this with regular tools. You really need some good tools to be able to fit this. I used it on my 528xi M pack. It looked great! The problem is, I couldn’t take it off when I sold the car. The car was sold in a state that doesn’t require front tag and I wanted to take off the support, no chance!
