MSRPocketRocket 2 Ultralight Camping and Backpacking Stove

This is a really solid camping stove. There is a reason it is called the pocket rocket! It packs a lot of heat and power despite being small and lightweight. Did not have any issues when I used this, it heats water fast and is super easy to travel with so if you are worried about weight or size with backpacking this is a good fit. Keep in mind you do need to give it a little time to cool down before storing and hitting the trail again. Highly recommend this, easy to use and always gets the job done.

This is a great little cannister stove. The price is fair, considering the brand and the quality. I have purchased smaller, lighter, and cheaper chinese versions but honestly, I don't know if I totally trust them. MSR makes quality products, and I'd rather pay a bit more to have a brand that I have confidence in. This is a great little stove and packs down small and light - a great little stove.

Tiny, compact, and super light. Works like a charm and as long as your setting up camp right boils quickly.

Having owned several stoves over the years, I am super impressed with this one! A snow peak was in my pack for the better part of 3 years, and while I had no issues with it, I felt that boil times were too slow for 1 to 2 cups of water. I ordered this stove on somewhat of a whim, hoping that it would fit the bill and cut down my boil times.I tested the stove with 2 boil tests. Tests 1 was with 2 cups of water in my usual backpacking pot. I set the timer and was amazed when 2 cups boiled in 2.5 minutes. The power of this little stove is beyond impressive. Right away, you can see how it gets the name "pocket rocket."Test 2 was for a cup of coffee, which was 8 oz of water in the same container. Within a minute I could feel the container shaking. After 75 seconds, I had a rolling boil.the lightweight design and the smart carrying case are a nice perk for backpacking. Many similar products provide you with a small bag, which does nothing to protect the stove in your pack. The pot supports fold out to accept a container of decent diameter size. You can likewise fold them in to accept a smaller container. When it is time to pack up your kit, simply fold in the arms and igniter and place back in the case.The stove remains hot after use for about 2-3 minutes, so be cautious about handling.While I have not tested this product in the wind, any backpacker worth their salt knows to bring a wind screen or use natural materials to block off gusts while using.I would highly suggest this product for any day hiker, backpacker, or camper in general who wants a smartly designed, light weight, and efficient way to heat up water for your meals.

I've heated many a meal on this by now and it works/folds/lasts better than my expectations. It's simple to fold for travel/storage, and easy to set up and light. Screws on to fuel tanks easily.It cools rapidly when you're done as well so you don't have to worry too much about burning yourself on it (due caution required, of course). Just let it cool while you pack up other items, or while you enjoy your meal.It folds up extremely small and weighs next to nothing. Build quality seems like it will last for years.I'd recommend this for any ultra-light backpacker.

Years ago (many) I had the previous pocket rocket. Then the MSR Wind burner showed up. Still have it but the pocket rocket was abandoned after breakage. I found a need for the ultimate small lightweight msr pr2. I couldn't resist the sale price. I am glad I bought it. Have been on several day trips and the PR2 is exceptional. Boils quickly & fires up instantly when my zipper works. Very pleased. Lightweight, small. Perfect.

It’s a fine stove but the storage box it comes with doesn’t fit the stove. No matter how you bend the little arms around. The box doesn’t fit the stove. I will have to find a Tupperware or something else to fit it. Sort of a fail on their design team. It’s not in the storage box when shipped it’s anchored in a good box but it’s not in the storage container. They couldn’t get it to fit at the factory either.Update: I figured out how to fold it correctly and utilize my storage box.

It worked well and easily for initial 3 day/night backpacking trip. One can buy cheaper, but not lighter and with much less confidence.
