Blitzby 07/146 Reusable Silicone Dishwashing Scrubber, Pink

After many years of using a plastic Folgers coffee container that I dug out of the trash at work, I finally broke down and purchased this wonderful compost container. I only wish I had gone this route sooner! I still keep it under the sink, even though it's lovely enough to be sitting on the counter top. Even more than its good looks, the things I really love about this container are: 1.) the inside is smooth, so not much (if anything) sticks to it, and rinsing it out is a breeze; 2.) it's large enough to hold a LOT of food scraps, but small enough to fit in limited space; 3.) the lid fits nicely, keeping the mice from thinking we run an under-the-sink smorgasbord, and the charcoal filter prevents any nasty smells from taking over the kitchen; and 4.) the handle allows for an easy trip to the compost pile when the container finally needs to be dumped. Add to all of that an incredibly good price, and all I can say is: BUY IT-- IT'S WORTH IT!!!

I really like this product, been a few weeks and been throwing everything in there from onion skins, potato skins, banana skins, cut up vegetables, tea bags, coffee grounds and not a hint of odor in the kitchen, not a hint, my wife was all concerned the kitchen would stink but she even admitted she is surprised there is no smell. I empty this when it gets about half full but never is there any odor.. A quick since out and ready for next batch. So much NOT going into the trash but into this and then my compost bin. The lid has I believe 2 filters that work wonders, then again when the lid is off I don't notice any smell either, so I don't know if replacement filters would be required anytime soon.This is petty large and holds quite a bit. There is no rubber gasket or anything like that the lid fits snugly on the body.My only wish is they made other colors.

This compost bin was exactly what we were looking for. It combines function with design. It looks cute sitting on our counter top and I've found that we are composting many more items because of this bin.It holds about a week's worth of items for our family (including daily coffee grounds).The only downside is that I have yet to find a compost bag/liner that fits this bin well. Of the ones I've tried some are too small and others are too large. I went with the larger ones where the liners hang out a bit, it cuts down on the cute factor, but it worth not having to worry about the compost items being against the inside of the can.UPDATE - After having this compost bin for nearly a year I have updated it to 5 stars. We have used it every day and it has held up REALLY well. The best bags I've found for it are the small scented bathroom garbage bags. They are still a little large, but you can wrap them around the top on the outside and tie them off and keep the cute appearance.

I bought this over a year ago and have been using it daily since that time. We compost all of our vegetable/fruit scraps (that are not being used to make vegetable broth) and so this sees HEAVY use.It still prevents bad smells from escaping and I have not yet replaced the carbon filter.After it fills completely and must be emptied I rinse it and let it air dry (about once every week), but do not find it necessary to fully wash it to prevent it from getting smelly.I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to compost and not have to run outside after every meal. :)Edited to add more: It has now been two years and three months of using this daily (and heavily still) and it still looks new. I use this in my kitchen right now and have done so for a few months. I have not smelled a single foul odor escape it yet. Yes, there are other things you could use to do the same task but having used cans and other things myself, I can tell you this looks nice, doesn't stink and easy to take to a compost bin (mine sits in the yard under my back steps so not far to get it there). It would get dirty inside but I went to Target...(sorry Amazon, they are local and we're much cheaper) and bought some compost able liner bags so all I get on the bottom is liquid seapish which is easily rinsed out. It could probably cost a bit less but all and all I am happy with this purchase.

I love this container. It is a perfect size to sit in my sink. I like the black color because my sink is also black and the chrome top matches the sink hardware nicely. The carbon filters help keep the odors down, I do empty it nearly everyday into our big compost bin outside because I don't like garbage sitting around in my kitchen, disguised or not. The handle makes it easy to carry out especially when it is full of vegetables and fruit garbage. I do squirt a little bleach in the bottom once i awhile just to help with the odors of rotting food. We have enjoyed composting this past year and have ordered a new compost tumbling bin from Amazon that I am looking forward to using as this stationary one is hard for me to turn the compost in. I'm 75 years old and can't lift a shovel as easily as I used to.

I saw this on another site for a much higher price. I purchased from Amazon along with the Norpro Recyclable Bags that were recommended. The filter was already installed. Right now mine has egg shells, orange peels, peach peels, and lettuce in it. You only know if you look inside. I took a whiff directly from the top of it and nothing. I keep mine on the counter top and it isn't an eyesore....blends in very nicely. I'm only taking a star away because there is a spot where the paint was splotchy. You can't tell and it didn't affect my OCD. I'm only pointing it out so that I am completely honest with my review. Arrived on time and packaged well.

Excellent for bench top, so smart I leave it there. Looks great as my kitchen cupboards are also black. Great size, only empty every 4/5 days, no smell.
