Hunting Adeline review
Firstly, this book is not for kids. It has very disturbing scenes that may be offensive to some. However, it was very well written and I could not put it down. As a book reader, I would definitely recommend this book. The author knows how to keep the reader on their toes and the story never gets boring. For the price, I thought it was well worth it. It arrived in great condition alongside being a good read.

Spoilers Below! Hunting Adeline was a gripping, emotional and harrowing story that will absolutely stay with you forever. I absolutely loved this book as it not only destroyed me but also put me back together. There were moments I cried, felt disgusted, screamed, laughed, smiled and blushed. Definitely not an easy read but one that I absolutely could not put down. This is the final installment to the Cat and Mouse duet, so definitely read the first book before starting this one. This book also may not be for everybody as the story has some very very dark, graphic, explicit and triggering content. So please absolutely check the trigger warnings before reading. The overall plot and storyline were beautifully written and captivating even with the dark content throughout the story. I will say that Part 1 of this book was extremely difficult to read but the author was able to write such a raw and realistic story in a way that still gave me hope. Adeline’s journey was dark, heartbreaking, honest, empowering and just beautiful. While, painful to read at times her storyline and character development was just fantastic. Her healing and recovery was a bit unconventional at times but exactly what she needed for herself and for her relationship with Zade. Zade, I just have no words for how incredible this man was. His love, devotion, commitment, and obsession with Adeline was just so god damn beautiful. He definitely was exactly what she needed and their relationship was one of the best I have ever read. Zade honestly is just one of my top favorite book boyfriends ever. The spice in this book was also just fantastic. It’s dark, kinky and intense, and while it doesn’t occur until about 65% into the book it’s definitely worth it after all Adeline and Zade went through. While, there were a lot of side characters throughout this book that I liked, Sibby was by far my favorite. I absolutely loved how funny, crazy, charming and dramatic she was. She also provided that comedic relief that was needed in the story. Another side character that I liked but still have a few mixed feelings about was Rio. I would definitely love a book about him as he was not your typical morally gray character. I will say that the revenge aspect of this story was fantastic but a bit too rushed. I just would have liked for the torture and pain to have been more, especially after what they all did to Adeline. The conclusion and epilogue was absolutely perfect and definitely worth all that heartache. Zade and Adeline’s unconventional love story is one for the ages. Overall, just a heartbreakingly beautiful read and ending to the Cat and Mouse duet. Detailed chapter spoilers! •Chapter 8 – R & SA Explicitly Detailed. •Chapter 12 – R & SA Explicitly Detailed. •Chapter 14 – R & SA Mentioned/Talked About. •Chapter 17 – Torture and Aftermath Mentioned. •Chapter 18 – R, SA and Torture Explicitly Detailed. •Chapter 22 – Zade finds Adeline after 2 and a half months of being kidnapped. The end of Part 1 as well. •Chapter 24 – R & SA Mentioned/Remembered. •Chapter 31 – R & SA Mentioned/Remembered. Some spicy and kinky scenes also occur between Zade and Adeline. Months have passed since her rescue but she’s still recovering and dealing with PTSD. •Chapter 32 – R & SA Mentioned/Remembered. •Chapter 33 – Full on smut/spice occurs between Zade and Adeline.

So very confused with other people's reviews elsewhere
Everyone kept saying that book two would be 10 times worse than that of book one and while I will say that the situations that Adeline was in was definitely not anything good, I can't say this is the worst book I've ever read when it comes to descriptive scenes of a delicate nature. Expl*cit scenes, mainly dubious or non-cons*nsual ones, should be hard to read, bring tears to your eyes, and even make you feel sick to your stomach. I don't know, maybe I've become desensitized by some of the other things that I've read, but I still finished this one within 24 hours so I feel as though it wasn't as dark as what a lot of people claim it to be. That being said, this is chock full of all of the trauma and the follow up necessary for healing from it. And healing is NOT easy when it comes to being s*xually tr@fficked. It takes months, maybe even years of time to heal and even then, my guess is that it will never be fully back to where you were before. There will always be triggers. There will always be something or someone that makes you freeze up and want to run away. Zade is the perfect man to bring you back from that edge, which is SO odd to find myself saying. His patience for Addie... I'm floored by it while at the same time, I'm not as surprised as I feel like I should be. Addie though. Addie annoyed me. This back and forth with Zade, not being able to love him but she loves him. Not wanting him around but not wanting him to go. This man has put his literal *everything* into her, being with her, loving her, showing her that she is all that matters and she's a darn yo-yo, bouncing back and forth, pushing him away but trying to pull him back in. It. Drives. Me. CRAZY. Perhaps more crazy than Sibby. Just not as st@bby. All in all, the spice (when cons*nsual) was great and I loved the full storyline, everything working up to the very crazy ending that I cannot wait to see more of, should there ever be any. Side note: Kraven? I barely met you and you ended up disappearing with Sibby. WHAT WAS THAT??

Not for the faint of heart
This book is not for the faint of heart. The warning label is true to its word. This is extremely dark and may be trigging for some people. Overall, it is a fantastic read and it doesn't hold back at all. I do think the MMC was made to be a little too OP, but I do like the villainous personality he has.

What a masterpiece
I'm just in awe. Utterly mind-blown. The first book I completely obsessively loved and devoured, but this one was the cherry on top. I read the first half of the book compulsively and fast, but once I could finally breathe again (you'll know what I mean if you've read it or once you read it) I tried to stretch the second half as much as I could, not wanting it to end. Delayed gratification, people. But don't let what I say kid you; this book is brutal, in a masochitically and beautiful sense of the word. Your heart will beat fast, it will break, you'll hold your breath, you won't be able to sleep (not well, at least lol) until you pass HALF OF THE BOOK. SPOILERS It doesn’t matter that Zade and Adeline are separated half of the book; this doesn’t make it less... gripping, captivating and addictive. And! Regarding what I said above, I didn't even devour the book because I wanted Zade and Adeline to reunite (of course I wanted them to), but because I just wanted to keep on seeing how they managed to survive the whole... thing. The awful, tragic THING: Adeline being kidnapped and trafficked because of her connection to Zade (Zade and I believe this; Adeline doesn't blame him). What a tragically awesome plot twist! (End of book 1). The man who lives to destroy these Societies, has to live at least 2 months apart from Madeline, knowing that she's being abused and exploited (and this she is, graphically and explicitly. Brace yourselves). I LOVED Adelene's attitude while living this awful reality, focused on surviving and trying to play the cards that she was delt as well as she could, until she finally escapes and is found by Zade and the whole experience comes crushing down on her. Of course, since she's trying to survive, as I said, you then see how desensitized she became in order to cope better with the situation... The way the author deals with her trauma, her healing, being okay, then the anger, the mixed feelings, itt was all just so... I don't know. Perfect. This author has a way with words and how she tackles these topics, and I just really appreciated that she found a way to weave them into a beautiful and sexy dark romance novel. On the other hand, I LOVED how Zade was almost crazy, wild, desperate, losing it (of course he tried to keep his cool as much as he could) while he was looking for Adeline. I loved how "real" the "hunting" process was; I couldn't believe it took him 2 months to find her! But then, of course as much as he's a beast of a man, he doesn't have superpowers so. That was really sobering... I also loved how, when he finally finds her, he tries to be the pilar now that Adeline's trauma starts coming to the surface, even though he's dealing with his own shit internally. He deals, so, so well with her constant ups and downs, angry lashouts. I just LOVED that this man, even though he's patient and keeps his distance cause Adelene has issues with him touching her now, doesn't shy away from showing her his desire, either verbally, by the way he looks at her, and gradually touching her more and more. You'll see that after all the stalking and the tragedy, he ends up giving her POWER; physical, mental, and emotional. I don't know. I still think he's a psycho, but now he's my favorite male fictional character. Seriously. I'm not going to share more spoilers than I've already had. You'll just have to read the novels because I could write an essay saying all the things that make him the perfect man lol psycho, dominant, confident, intense, possessive and all. LOL thank God Sibby's back!!! I couldn't help laughing whenever she made an appearance! Just brilliant. EVERY SINGLE THING

Dark, emotional, and impossible to stop reading
I read Haunting Adeline first and thought I was prepared for this one. I was not, if that is even possible. I bought Hunting Adeline because I needed closure after the cliffhanger, but what I got was an emotional rollercoaster that left me both heartbroken and hopeful. This book is heavy, intense, and not for everyone, but it handles trauma in a way that feels raw and personal. From the very first chapter, the tone shifts. The haunting gothic romance turns into something much darker and more psychological. Adeline’s journey here is about survival and rebuilding herself after unimaginable pain. The writing captures that trauma with brutal honesty. I do not think it glorifies it, but it also does not shy away from it. There were moments that made me want to stop reading. You genuinely see her fight to reclaim her sense of safety and control. Zade continues to be one of the most morally complex characters I have ever read. He is not the typical “dark romance hero.” He is flawed, obsessive, and protective. Yet somehow you understand him more in this book. The dual POV helps tremendously. The chemistry between them is still undeniable, but this time it also carries pain rather than just obsession. The pacing is steady despite the heavy themes. However, readers should be aware of the detailed and graphic scenes. There is no sugarcoating it. I give the author credit for showing the aftermath of trauma in a way that gives the main character her agency back. Watching Adeline rediscover her strength and sense of power is what makes the second half worth every difficult page. What I appreciated most is that it does not end in neat perfection. Healing is not a straight line, and love is complicated. If you are someone who likes their romance dark, emotional, and psychologically layered, Hunting Adeline is unforgettable. It is not comforting reading, but it stays with you.

Romance With Teeth
Hunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton is brutal, haunting, and impossible to look away from. This isn’t a romance you breeze through, it’s a descent. The trauma is heavy, the darkness is unfiltered, and the pain feels personal. Adeline’s survival is hard-won, raw, and deeply emotional, while Zade remains morally gray, obsessive, and unwavering in his mission. This book doesn’t exist to comfort you, it exists to expose the ugly, the broken, and the fight it takes to claw your way back. Check your triggers, steel your nerves, and don’t expect softness. This story bites back.
