Karma Girl

Carmen Cole does what every self respecting girl would do when she finds her fiancé and best friend getting it on on what should be her wedding day, she gets revenge by not only outing their cheating but also revealing their secret identities as the town superhero and ubervillain! Determined to save any other unsuspecting females from being deceived in a similar fashion she puts all her time and energy into outing every superhero and ubervillain. Along the way she alienates herself and others until circumstances cause her to have a long hard look at herself and her actions.This series may seem cheesy to a lot of people and to be honest, it is. But it's the good kind of cheesy. Sometimes you need a light fun read full of humour, wit and stereotypes and this fits the bill perfectly! I love Jennifer's Elemental Assasin series and I'm looking forward to reading more in this series too.

I got the feeling throughout this book that it was more of a romance novel than a superhero book. I'm not a fan of the former but the lead character is strong and fiery enough that it didn't devolve to slush. The story was good if slightly predictable and impeccably written with no grammar or spelling issues I could find. I've just downloaded book two...

having read the elemental series and being very up and down, i love it i love it not, i thought i would give this series of three a chance. What fun ! Other reviewers have given an idea of the story so all I can say is give them a go. Silly and seemingly frivolous as they are, there are many funny caricatures - basically give it a go you know you want to. go on - its fun :-)

Ok, but not as good as the 'Spider' series, which I really enjoy. Probably more a young adult book. I struggled to read this - I became a bit bored as the plot was too predictable. I won't be buying the next in the series.

Wer esteps elemetal Assassins mochte, und Superhelden nicht völlig ablehnt, kann auch an Karma Girl seinen Spass haben. Hier ist ein bisschen mehr Romance dabei, aber ihre figuren sind wie gewohnt liebevoll gezeichnet und nicht ganz fehlerfrei.Die Reihe (ich weiss von drei Teilen, Karma Girl,Hot Mama und Jinx, zwei habe ich gelesen, der dritte ist schon bestellt) spielt in Big time, NY und geht im weitesten Sinn um verliebte Superhelden und Übervillains. Der erste Band geht um carmen, und wer sich immer schon gefragt hat, wie sich Mary Jane als Spideys love interest/freundin gefühlt hat, sollte ihre Geschichte lesen. Carmen ist eine Reporterin, die einige Minuten vor ihrer hochzeit feststellt, dass ihr freund sie betrügt-mit ihrer besten freundin- und das beide Superhelden sind. Wütend macht sie sich auf, die Identität sämtlicher Superhelden (und in Esteps Welt gibts die eigentlich in jeder Ecke) auffliegen zu lassen. Bis sie einen feher macht, und sich ein von ihr enttarnter Superheld umbringt. Und ausserdem wollen die Ansässigen übervillains ihre recherchefähigkeiten nutzen, um ihre Erzrivalen, die guten Jungs, zu enttarnen, um sie leichter um die Ecke bringen zu können und_ natürlich_ die Stadt zu unterjochen.Ich brauche kaum zu erwähnen, dass carmen dabei ein recht gut aussehender Superheld über den Weg läuft....Jap, das ist die geschichte. genauso absurd wie sie sich anhört ist sie auch. Allerdings auch ziemlich unterhaltsam, wenn auch keine hohe literatur.
