Among the Gods (Chronicles of the Kings #5)

I loved the way she took events in the Old Testament and translated them into stories about real people going through the events. She is a wonderful story teller. I highly recommend this series.

I liked the presentation - I felt like it showed we a true biblical accounting but also a practical one for my life. I would recommend the Chronicles of the Kings to anyone searching for meaning in our current tumultuous world and a pattern to live by.

I just read the last Chronicles of the Kings Book 5.So now I have read every book she wrote. My favorite author.It makes the Bible come alive. I have studied the Bible my whole life.At 79, I never stop learning…His Word is always new.

As I read the five books which make up The Chronicles of the Kings, it opened up the untold stories behind the scriptures and allowed me to fill in some of the blanks that the scriptures don't share with us. Most certainly, this is fiction, and I do not, in any way, give it the weight of truth that the scriptures carry. However, Lynn Austin has done the research that can give us some clues as to what we could have seen happening if we could have pulled back the curtain of the biblical account. The characters were rich with personality. I felt like I got to know them very well. My heart broke for the pain and burdens they carried, and rejoiced for the victories of their lives. The grace and mercy of God, the complicated plans He has that are so far beyond our understanding, His patience with us, and His great love that guides us to Him was shown and demonstrated as these stories unfolded. On the other hand, we also get to see how the evil one manipulates, confuses, and lies to those with whom he can find a foothold or a listening ear. I will never be able to read about this line of kings in the same way again. I read all five books in a very short time because I found it difficult to put them down. I'm writing this review at almost 3 a.m. because I had to see how everything would end. I could not have been more pleased. Although I read more nonfiction than fiction, I would highly recommend the Chronicles of the Kings series. Start with book 1! You won't want to miss any of it.

I loved the whole Chronicles of the Kings series, which is best read in sequence. The character development is rich, and it's rare that I get so captivated by a book that I stay up way too late reading, but each book of the series did that for me. The author kept to the confines of scripture well, and her use of it fell smoothly into the plot line, It wasn't preachy, but very effective. I had often wondered how King Manasseh had turned out so wicked with such a godly father. This book presents a very plausible scenario, with a great warning for today. An insecure, immature leader without a sound knowledge of scripture can readily fall under the influence of a wicked man who can quote scripture and twist it in such a way that it says the opposite of what God intended. My skin crawled at Zerah's use of God's Word, and how easily deceived Manasseh was by it. It was a powerful message to be in God's Word and alert for those who may use it to deceive, and the slippery slope of deception. There is also a strong theme of God's incredible grace and forgiveness, and the consequences of unforgiveness. A great series I am sure to reread again and again.

I feel very blessed to have read this series. Lynn Austin is a very good story teller. Reading Chronicles of the Kings has brought my walk with God so much closer. Reading these books also answered a lot of questions I have about the Jewish faith.I can see mans separation from God today. The chasm seems so wide as evil invades every aspect of our lives. It seems as if our world is upside down. I guess that’s the way it felt to the faithful followers of Yahweh during this time, and many other times before and after. It seems as if we never learn the lesson our Father is trying to teach us. Come closer to Him and realize the beauty of His presence in our lives. Hoe fulfilled we would be to rest in His arms.The characters of this book will draw you in to love their walk with God. To be amazed at their undying faith in Yahweh.I recommend this book to everyone. It’s been such a blessing to me.

I would highly recommend the complete series starting with book 1 and ending with Among the Gods book 5 !

I am humbled in reading this book. I started this series after studying the Old Testament kings. The insight to life Mrs. Austin has brought in these books has been very helpful. More than that, she has used each person’s story to show God’s profound love and forgiveness. It’s beautiful and brought me to tears.

This book highlights the great meaning of Gods forgiveness it also shows how we must forgive those that hurt us.
