This cream seems to work as well as the brand name one. It also is a lot cheaper. So if you are using that other one you might give this a try. I actually miss the cooling effect of the menthol but would not pay 4 times the price to get it. This is my new favorite cream.

I fully realize that every one responds to medications differently, so this is just my own response - but given the high cost of the product, I thought it might be helpful to at least share my experience for the next person to consider when making their purchase.For whatever reason, local stores in my area were out of stock on hemorrhoid products. I went online to see what I could get sent to me ASAP because the need was immediate, not a stock up for later type deal. In theory, 5% lidocaine as the strongest on the market seemed perfect, so I paid my $27+ and thanked my luck that it was at least in stock on Amazon.Once it arrived I used it right away and it immediately felt worse. Thinking the pain was due to me having had no treatment for a day or so while waiting for it to arrive, I kept using it hoping it would soon start to work. It burned, it never "numbed" or lessened the pain, and the next morning I found increased swelling rather than less. I immediately went looking to another option and once I started using something else, I found the rapid relief this product was supposed to deliver!I don't know if it was just my tube, although packaging was pristine and tube had been sealed, but not only didn't it work- it made things so much worse! Will everyone else have the same reaction as me? Unlikely, I'm just saying maybe try less expensive options first and only try this as a very last resort since it is incredibly expensive. At the end of the day I spent $30 bucks on something that made my problem more painful, lengthened recovery time, and then still had to spend more money on something else that actually worked (which for the record was a $4 big blue store generic cream that started working immediately).So, buyer beware if you respond like I did, you could be out a decent chunk change and left in more pain than when you started.

I did like how hard it is to get the cream out of the tube. Otherwise AOK
