My favorite
This is my favorite tape measure for daily use as a pipe fitter. Extends out over 11 ft unsupported before bending snap. Extends the full 25 ft and retracts with ease. Lock works well, only issue I have is overtime the numbers especially on the back side wear out more than other tape measures have. But I'll gladly buy this twice for every one fatmax or other brand

Nearly Perfect
This is my new daily driver and I believe it's the best all around tape available. I've been a fat max user for years and this is the first tape to convert me.PROS:-The body is a even 3" long for easy math if you like to measure to the back of the tape.-The tang has smooth movement (this had always been my complaint with the fat max). The four rivet points make me confident that it will stay true to measurement as well.-Print on the back of the tape is a super nice touch.-Great size for a 25' Tape.*CONS:-It's a bit tall to pinch the tape for a temporary finger lock. I have to hold it on the front on the tape awkwardly. It's not a deal breaker but I just wish they would add the bottom finger cutout like they have on other models.-The clip can be frustratingly difficult to clip onto a belt. I have no trouble getting it onto the metal clip on my work belt and it holds great but clipping it onto a regular belt is nearly impossible without two hands.

You may, or may not get the exact tape measure pictured.
I'd been wanting to try this 'Nite Eye' tape since I first saw them. I have a garage, a shop, and a barndominium to build, and ordered this tape measure to use on them. I did not get one with the grit texture on the end hook. I have to admit, I'm a little disappointed. The model number does match the pictures so why the difference in the end hook I don't know. It does show the end hook with a grit texture in the photos, but there is no mention of a "diamond-coated 360° end hook" anywhere in the description. Even in the "From the manufacturer" information section it shows a grit coated end hook, but only states, "Advanced Endhook Design 360 degree grasping power in tighter spaces", so no actual mention of diamond coated, or grit coated end hook. With all that being said, I'm still pretty satisfied with the tape measure itself. It is very well made, and I can shoot the tape out there about 10 feet before it starts rolling or giving me any kind of trouble. Easiest to use locking, and unlocking mechanism I have ever had on a tape measure. I absolutely do love the black tape with the large green numbers. It is very easy and fast to read. Inside measurements are accurate too. The tape body, from the front edge of the end hook to the back of the tape housing is exactly 3-inches wide. I did have to bend the belt hook out a little to be able to hook the tape on to my tool belt easily. Bottom line... I'll keep the tape and use it because I do like it, and can use it for the purpose for which it was intended. Just wish I would have received the exact thing I thought I was paying for.

Incredibly easy to read.
Simply the best. Tough and legible; the black tape sounds like a bad idea until you see it. Best tape measure I've ever had.

Best tape, hands down!
So this is a review for the NEW first generation Night Eye. If that sounds confusing that's because it is.This is in fact a first gen as you can see from the photos that it only measures 3". BUT you can also see that that they upgraded the tape and added the second gen protective coating. Which in my opinion makes this the best of both worlds as it is the better size to fit comfortably in your hand but they fixed the biggest problem with it's durability. As you can see I have made the NECESSARY modification to the best clipby bending it out a bit so it actually works instead of being hidden behind the over molded housing. The only thing that would make this a better tape is if they had also upgraded the front hook with the lower profile gen 2 one.

Worse Than any other tape measure I own.
It's a really cool concept, but unfortunately, the wrong company piloted it. The tape is very flimsy and wants to roll to the side after only a three foot extension. Keep in mind this is brand new and the first time use. It will not retract once you get it out past 10 feet because the tension is too weak. You have to self feed it in and this is absolutely unacceptable. It deserves less than one star.

Readable but not as durable as I thought
I initially bought this tape on eBay and I really loved how width of the tape was and how it holds in place when meausring long distances.I do a lot of DIY furniture like closests, vanities etc so I want the ease of being able to mark. After weeks of using the first one, I let it go from about 6 feet and the hook at the beginning broke off rendering the entire tape useless. With this one from Amazon, it seemed pretty much the same - hefty, strong, wide tape, readable. However, within days, the tape would not lock properly when using the locking mechanism. I really dislike how I’m trying to free measure to various points it just begins to slide back into the housing. It’s no problem if I use the hook but this is a huge problem especially when I butt up to a wall or surface and I’m trying to measure to a point. It just closes back.I really thought I found the perfect tape but I guess I’ll be looking again.

Not just a novelty
I got this tape measure to add to the four others I use because it's so easy to read. I love the large lime color inch markings on the black background. It's solidly built and has a belt clip on the back although it's so tight, it take effort to open the clip wide enough to attach it. Since I don't use the clip this wasn't a negative for me; however, the one thing I don't like is that it doesn't auto-stop when extended - which is what I prefer. It does have a logically placed button the user to press to lock the measure when it's extended. As for the reach, I took to 10 1/2 feet before I decided that was enough.
