Good player
works great so far. I don't really like buying a bunch of different peices for my computer. But I really didn't have a choice. Easy to use just plug and play good for dvds and games, seems sturdy and a good value reads cds, dvds, and blue ray

External DVD Drive, USB powered
Bought this as a recently purchased LGA 1700 motherboard does not support an internal Sata powered DVD Drive. Yet, the installation drives for the MB came on a CD. This USB drive met the need. Quite motor. I could not hear it. It is thinner than the drive it replaced but works well and appears to be built to last. My use of a DVD has become infrequent so considered disconnecting and setting aside but decided to keep it plugged in sitting on top of the computer case. With the compact design appears to be part of the computer case and is not a bother. I like it.

Stopped working after an hour
I ordered multiple home camcorder videos from 90s and 2000s from a company that puts them on disks. Viewed disks on a normal TV DVD player and they worked just fine, but I did not have the remote so could not rewind or fast forward. Decided to order this so I could plug it into my MacBook Air and watch them on there and be able to rewind/FF. Device seemed to be working fine, watched two DVDs, put in a third and the machine light went green and off multiple times before fully turning off. Put in a fourth thinking it may have been the disk and green light did not turn on at all nor did computer read it as a device plugged in- usb cord was fully connected to usb c cable which was fully plugged in to laptop. Not sure why this would work for two disks and completely stop working. Highly unsatisfied. This isn't even a large capacity CD with an album or DVD with a whole movie, these are disks about 20-30 mins in length of home videos that are brand new no scratches no dust. Can't imagine what anything larger capacity would have done to this machine.

Great dvd/cd reader/writer if not running windows 11.
Bought this for my win 11 laptop since they don't come with dvd/cd drives anymore and I do have occasional need to create dvds. However, even though the description seemed to indicate it worked with all versions of windows, I couldn't get it to do anything with my win 11 box. I finally got out my old laptop with win 10 on it and it worked just fine for burning a dvd. I did check and both machines had the same dvd/cd driver installed, so that was not the problem. I have to assume there is some other incompatibility with windows 11 that I could not ascertain. If you're not running win 11, this drive should work just fine for you, although I did not check it for linux compatibility.
