An excellent selection
Steve Turner's poetry is deceptively simple yet it tends to deliver the kind of subliminal kick in the teeth that stays with you forever. Much of his work stems from his Christianity, about which he writes fluently' affectingly and with a no nonsense approach that cuts through the religiosity to focus on the core issues of belief in a saving creator. However, he also writes brilliantly about doubt and the testing of faith. His thoughts on relationships, society and personal behaviour are outstanding.

So good, I gave it to a friend
I love Steve's poems. They are at times funny, sarcastic, challenging, moving and thought-provoking: sometimes all at once. If you Google his name you will find a webpage which includes a set of twelve, but the book contains a lot of gems not in that set.My favourite has to be Creed, but I also like these shorter poems: Gun What is a gun for? A gun is for making things. What does it make? Orphans, widows, grief ... Prayer Fell fast asleep While saying a prayer. When I woke up Found God was still there. The God Letters The Lord God says 'Share your bread with the hungry, bring the homeless poor into your house, cover the naked.' Dear Lord God, we have got new carpets, so this will not be possible. Those are just a sample of the treasures in the book. Get it. I'm ordering my replacement copy after writing this.
