💕 Christmas time, Mistletoe and Wine
Katie Ginger is fast becoming a favourite author of mine. Since reading her 'Little Theatre' books, I was thrilled to hear she had this Christmas story too.'Snowflakes at Mistletoe Cottage' is genuinely one of the best Christmas themed books I've read this season. After reading the blurb, I wondered how this story was going to unfold. I knew from her other books that Katie would make it funny, sad, charming and exciting, I wasn't disappointed, it is all those things - and more!Little touches make this story magical, like the relationship Esme shares with her parents, her friendships are so special (Mark is fabulous!) and the twists and turns in her life are incredibly touching. If you want a Christmas movie in book form, this is definitely one to add to your list for Santa 🎅🏼

A nice read
Esme has the worst day ever when she is fired from her job, and dumped by her long-term boyfriend all in the same evening. Now back in the country town of her childhood, Esme doesn't know what to do next - until she finds a perfect rental in Mistletoe Cottage and is convinced to start a food blog by her friends. Can Esme carve a new career for herself, from her own kitchen and using her grandma's perfect recipe book? And maybe love is just around the corner in the form of former school crush Joe.This was a lovely read that while set in November and December, isn't super Christmassy and can be read at any time of year. From the start, I really enjoyed Esme's character who is given a rough go at it but is really able to carry on and figure out how to enjoy the good things she still has. And she still had moments where she took time to grieve what she had lost which is important. I loved Esme's set of friends who are all lovely and supportive, as well as funny. There were some chapters in and there from Leo - Esme's ex - which I found slightly unbelievable as he was honestly just such a chump. Some of the chapters from Juanita - Esme's ex-boss's house keeper were also interesting but again, I'm not sure exactly what it brought as Esme's ending would have happened with or without Felicity's expose.Esme's love interest Joe is clearly suffering from depression in this book, and while counselling is mentioned here and there - mostly it being suggested to Joe and him not wanting to take it or thinking about the time he tried it and gave up - I would have liked more to have been done to actually tackle his depression. The book fell a bit into the trope of 'perfect love match cures all' which unfortunately is not the cure for depression. This was cute and fun, and I definitely recommend it for a nice, quick read and I will read more from the author. Bonus points for lots of delicious references to food.

Cosy romcom
Christmas may have been a little while ago but a Christmas romcom is perfect feel good reading for any time of year!I love Katie's style of writing, all thr books I've read by her have been heartfelt and humorous.Characters are something she writes very well, the ones we laugh with, the ones we swoon over, the ones we wish would crawl back under their rocks... in particular in this book I loved Esme's parents and their particular breed of parental embarrassment.Warning - don't read while hungry because Esme's cooking will leave you salivating!A fun, light read, perfect for cosy reads on a winters night!

A heart warming new beginnings story
Esme is a food technician and we jump straight into the story on the day from hell when she loses her job, home and boyfriend. Doesn’t get much worse than that. So she traipses back home to Sandchester for Christmas and possibly forever. Far from ideal.Missing her friends in London, missing her job and missing her boyfriend, Esme is desperate to get her life back on track but is London really the place for her or does Sandchester have more in store than she expected. This is a lovely story. I read it in the run-up to Christmas and didn’t have much time to read it and it’s therefore testament to a great story that it lingered with me in between and I was keen to get back to Esme and find out what would happen next.I do love a heart warming new beginnings story set at Christmas with snow and old cottages and this was just that. Fun, warm and definitely not my last Katie Ginger book.

Another fabulous book from Katie
From the very start i knew I was going to love this book! It has it all cheating boyfriend, bitchy woman, lovely friends, nutty parents and food! The characters are brilliant, they come across as warm, wonderful and they are the kind of people you want in your life - the good guys that is! The story is fast moving, not one boring part it makes you laugh, cry and angry for Esme it does everything a good book should! I've yet to find a book of Katie's which I haven't loved and need to see if there are any others I've not read yet.
