William the Curious: Knight of the Water Lilies: The Classic Edition (Charles Santore Children's Classics)

I only became aware of the illustrator Charles Santore in his recent NYTimes obituary. I was intrigued with the fact that he had written only three book children's books himself, which he of course beautifully illustrated. This the only one of the three, I now own all three, that is still in print.It is a delightful story, appropriate for any age, and magically illustrated. I have shared it with numerous adult friends and look forward to sharing it with my grandchildren. Hopefully his second book: The Silk Princess will be re-released soon.

The illustrations were beautiful and I was happy to sort of find a medieval story for my son. Kudos to the artist for an attempt at writing his own book. My son thoroughly enjoys this book on occasion. For me the story, and environmental allegory, was a little didactic and predictable. I have spent too much time trying to figure out how to weave an environmental tale into medieval times that would have been a little more mysterious and indirect, and I have not succeeded yet. Therefore, 4 stars

What a wonderful story and amazing illustrations! I borrowed this from a library in August to read to my grandsons and they were sad when it needed to be returned to the library so I bought it for them and our other grandkids for Christmas. It is a wonderful book that I would highly recommend to anyone with children. FYI - I am a retired librarian.

One of the best stories we've ever read which teaches children you can stand up for what you believe, no matter your size. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful too.

I bought this book for the illustrations. I am a big fab of Charles Santore. He is a creative genius!I love the story and am a;ways in awe of Santorwa art.

This is a beautiful story with magical illustrations - just like all of Charles Santore's books. Definitely a book to enjoy and cherish.

Book received in great condition, except for a large pen written happy birthday message written over one of the inner pages.

Great artwork. Weak story. Actually quiet boring and repititious with the artwork, but artwork once again well executed by Charles Santore. Master at his craft.
