OMG! This thing is simply amazing!
My new backpack vacuum just arrived and I've just cleaned house with it and it is absolutely fantastic! I just moved across the country and needed a new vacuum and was torn as to whether to get an upright or a canister. I lean toward canisters because it's easier to get under stuff and I don't ever have wall to wall carpeting. But I do have oriental rugs and canisters usually either have very poor carpet attachments, no carpet attachments, or ones that are so clunky and difficult to use with elaborate wiring systems going up the wand etc. that they end up breaking down early on. So I was surfing through all the Amazon vacuums trying to decide what to do, when I came across backpack ones. There were several brands, some very high end and many were really heavy (I'm not a big person and I'm getting pretty old too. heh). I ended up picking this one because it was the lowest weight one in the mid-range price. Along with it, I ordered a long extension cord and extra bags. (I noticed all backpack vacuums come with a short cord, which makes sense because everyone has different cord length needs depending on their needs. This way the extension cord can be anchored right on the vaccum) Anyway, long story short, I got the straps adjusted, read the manual, put it on and gave it a test run, and it was simply amazing! With it on my back, there are no worries about dragging a canister around furniture or the hose getting pulled out from hanging up on something. You have to sort of keep an eye on where you are dragging the cord so as not to get all tangled, but it was no problem. And the vacuum really SUCKS! A LOT! In anything else, that is a bad point, but in a vacuum, it's the most important feature, right? Here are the things I like best about this vacuum: 1) Good suction. Seems to have a lot of power. 2) weight is nice and low. It was very comfortable on my back and I'm an old lady, so I think anyone would not find this difficult weightwise. 3) Construction. It seems really durable. The wand is solid metal and the hose and hose handle are very nicely designed and seem more substantial than other vacuums. The case is plastic but thick enough to be very durable. It just seems very well built for the price. The backpack frame is light but durable and well shaped for comfort. 4) Toolbelt. One of the things I have always hated about most canisters is the tool attachment holders are always awful and you go to get your crevis tool to get beside the fridge and find it fell off somewhere back in one of the bedrooms. Well, that problem is OVER with this thing. Part of the backpack strapping stuff is a very nicely padded wide waist belt, and on the front of it are loops to hold your attachments. When you need one, it's right there in front of you! 5) Rug/carpet attachment. I am extremely impressed with this. It is not electrified but it DOES have beaters that are run by the suction power. Very clever! It does a beautiful job on my large and small area oriental rugs and I think it would work on carpeting as well as any upright! 6) loop to keep your extension cord from unplugging. A nice feature! All in all, I could find nothing wrong with this machine. The bags and filters seem easy to change/clean and the dirt-bag is as big as in many canisters. (I don't imagine you'd want too big a bag as that would be added weight). There is an added "shake out" bag that is washable, and a very nice Washable HEPA filter underneath it directly protecting the motor. There is also a washable intake filter on the outside which also protects the motor.

Works great!
I got tired of always dragging my Fein 8 gallon vacuum around when doing final clean up after a renovation at a customer's house. I needed a vacuum that I didn't have to constantly drag around with me or get stuck around corners when pulling it or worse yet, have the wheels scratch the floor. I decided with this Atrix model and I'm glad I did. It is much cheaper than the other brands I looked at, but so far I have used it on 3 remodels for picking up the fine dust and it is perfect. The two floor brushes operate with ease and the dust brush handles all of the small areas really well. I didnt need the other attachments they sent, but they seemed well made. Even when the dust bags are full there is still good suction coming from the machine. That surprised me. Also, the sound really isn't bad at all since it is so close to your ears. I always wear hearing protection with my tools and I thought with the motor being so close to my head I would have to, but I haven't yet. The bags aren't that expensive to buy and they handle drywall dust as well. My only problem is that the straps keep coming loose. I solved this by sewing them permanently since I'm the only person using this vacuum. If you are in the trades and need a quality vacuum that can pick up fine dust and is easy to maneuver around a customer's house then I highly recommend this powerful and easy to use unit.

Needs improvement, but gets the job done! Compact and lightweight for home use applications
Quality is just not there...pieces are hard to get together and apart. Tool pieces are cheaply made. The vacuum sucks good, but the floor piece scratches the floor. Update...I did not return this vacuum and have been using it daily since June. I did purchase a different floor piece and brush to better quality. Overall all the vacuum is good. Unfortunately it needs a light, today I taped a flashlight to the wand. Game changer!

BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK!
I've owned this vacuum for over six years and recently bought this one for a friend of mine. I used to clean commercial buildings and personal homes as my full time job and used many, MANY different vacuums and this one HANDS DOWN is the best I've ever used. It's got great suction that picks up everything. It's easy to unclog IF it becomes clogged. The additional pieces and accessories work for ALL areas of the home. It's maneuverable and easy to get everywhere because of the back-pack style. Works great and easy for stairs. Since it only has the two foot cord and you use an extention cord, I don't have to look for a new outlet every ten minutes. I'm cheap, so I empty the bags and reuse them at least three times. Hands down, the best vacuum for your money. Mine is starting to get worn and broken in places after YEARS of abuse, but I will be buying another one of these for myself without looking elsewhere, no questions asked.

Disappointing Performance After High Expectations
had high expectations for this backpack vacuum, but after using a ProTEAM, I realized how poorly this one performs. The only positive is the floor attachment, which is practical thanks to the button that lets you switch between carpet and hard floors easily. Unfortunately, everything else is a letdown. It only has a waist strap, leaving the chest unsupported, so it feels loose and unstable while wearing it. After just a few days of use, one of the shoulder straps came off completely, causing the vacuum to fall and leaving visible scratches on the floor. It requires an extension cord, but the way the cable hangs makes it very easy to trip over it or accidentally disconnect it, shutting the vacuum off mid-use. Once all the accessories are connected, it becomes extremely difficult to disconnect everything, making storage in a car or closet very impractical. I do not recommend this vacuum, both because of the damage I had after only a few days of use and its overall poor practicality.

First Impressions - Impressed!
We just received our first Atrix vacuum. We own several models of Proteam backpacks for our cleaning company. We decided to try something different and more economical because we are constantly having to repair our Proteam vacs, mainly switches (every year) and occasionally EXPENSIVE motors, among other small problems like our side filters constantly getting blown out of the filter doors. Our cleaners often complain about how cumbersome Proteam vacs feel when they are advertised to be easy to use and ergonomic. (I also use these vacs and know them like the back of my hand. And In my experience, it seems that the ergonomics break down pretty quickly with use.) These issues led me to seek out another alternative to meet our cleaning standards and cleaner needs. I set-up my Atrix vacuum today and gave it a test run. Immediately, I noticed that the backpack mount and ROBUST velcro waist band is a huge support. The vacuum felt light, and I was able to easily move around. I really appreciated the handle that attached to the hose and above the pole attachment. It made for a natural experience. The vacuum didn't rotate/shift on my back what-so-ever. (It was a contrast I wasn't use to.) Suction and power seems very good (tested on carpet and hard floor). I used the spinning brush attachment on durable hard floor in the kitchen. No noticeable debris kickback for random crumbs, a popcorn kernel or 2, and other small bits. The vacuum is on the quieter-ish side when compared to the power it seems to have. I sent the vacuum off with the cleaners to use today. Attachments for this model look okay and haven't been tested. I will probably purchase their Pro-grade hair brush tool. I am throughly happy that this vac came with a spinning floor tool and all-purpose floor tool without an additional cost. The construction seems solid. I am curious how it will handle the ware-and-tear of moving from job-to-job. (We own a residential and commercial mobile cleaning business. Every couple hours or so, we are on to the next job.) Anyone who operates backpack vacs knows the problematic extension cord issue. Vertical hanging clips don't always hold in place, and cleaners end up stressing the vacuum, power cord, and extension cord by tying the extension cord around the power cord. It's a huge no-no, but it happens out of necessity and annoyance when the extension constantly breaks free from the power source during use. Atrix has created a cool solution by permanently mounting a horizontal clip that provides (so far) the best support and tension I've seen. The extension prongs fit very, VERY snugly into the power cord. Lastly, I really appreciate the cloth-like debris collection bag. The interior of the vac seems very well sealed to prevent dust from escaping and infiltrating to the internal parts. In conclusion, so far, so great! However, I still have a lot of observing to do. Proteam's vacuum uses a very durable plastic body construction that can take some beating. I don't know if Atrix plastic body will hold up or not. It appears more ridged. Time will tell. Power/suction seemed good during the test run, but how will it hold up over time? How/when will it deteriorate as the bag and/or filters fill? How long will the rotating spin brush hold up? (I had issues with Proteam's attachment dying on me fairly quickly.) What will the suction be like when using the attachments? I will update my review once we've spent a little more time. That said, first impressions: I'm impressed!

Heavy
It sucks decent but for the love of gawd why is it so heavy. I might as well be wearing a jet pack. I feel like the ghost busters vacuums were probably lighter. Other than that, it works fine. Wish the end pieces clicked in place though, instead of just pushed on. Its like fighting a cheese doodle out of a toddlers hand hard, to get the pieces off.
