so after seeing a good review of this
i have a lot of experience setting up powerline, so after seeing a good review of this, I got it to have on hand for setting up for future customer. However, when I tried, I spent 2 hours and never got it to work, went and bought another and it was up in 15 minutes. So I brought this home, tried again for another 2 hours, still couldn't get it to work on a different router and wiring that another powerline has already been working on. It can connect to the router when hard wired and get the wireless programmed, but taking it into the same or next room, other devices can connect to the wireless . but not get internet. Again i got a brand new pair with wireless from another brand, was up within 10 minutes.Unfortunately, return date from amazon has passed since I didn't have an immediate use for it.

Overall pleased with the price and performance of this unit.
I wanted to give it three stars on the account of what a pain in the a$$ it was to setup the wifi, but after extensive tweaking I got it to work optimally. First, some common sense advise when setting it up. It does not like to share air waves with other nearby wifi networks. I had to disable competitive router in the 2.4 ghz range and manually assign a specific channel to this unit. I dont think it's any good at selecting channels automatically as it always defaults into lower spectrum where interference is most likely, especially from neighbors. I had no luck getting it to work reliably in 802.11a mode at all, but 802.11n works fabulous on a selected channel, having potential interference resolved. The power-line portion of this device works with no problems even on a power line shared with 600 watts of audio and video equipment I am getting reliable 600 to 700 mbit transfers. Overall pleased with the price and performance of this unit.Update 6-7-18The firmware is buggy, running some sort of flavor of embedded linux, I'm going to assume ARM based. Keeps rebooting randomly once a day if used to stream HD content over powerline.

Easier than running ethernet cable through your home.
I've been using this for over 2 years now. I've got nothing but positive things to say. Its super easy to setup and speeds are terrific on both ethernet and wifi. My son mainly uses the wifi for streaming netflix and for online classes during the pandemic. No issues whatsoever. About once every 6 months it will stop working and we have to unplug it and plug it back in but thats about it.My home has 2 stories and a basement. The router is in the basement on the north side of the house but my sons room is on the 2nd story on the south side. Couldn't be any further away from the router. This powerline adapter completely solved the problem. The web interface for this thing is really impressive also. It's highly customizable. Theres even the ability to automatically disable the device during certain hours or use mac filtering. The only downside is that the range isn't spectacular. It covers a few rooms on the same floor. It's basically good for getting some wifi into that room that your router can't reach.

Excellent in Old House Thru a Circuit Breaker
I am kinda surprised at how good it is. My house was built in 1944, and my wiring throughout most of the house is really old.I tested both WiFi and Ethernet speeds with a laptop. Directly connected to the Time Warner Cable router via WiFi I got 27 Mbps down and 144Mbps over ethernet. With the Zyxel unit, I got WiFi speeds of 44 Mbps down (faster than the router from TWC) and 85 Mbps over Ethernet. The unit was connected in the basement and thru a circuit breaker. Please note that WiFi tests for both were performed within 5 feet of the router/Zyxel unit.By the way, setup could not have been easier.I am impressed and would recommend it.

Easiest Networking Ever
Excellent. This has to be the easiest networking experience I've ever had. Large-footprint house with modem/router in one corner, wanted better reception elsewhere. Had a Netgear Powerline system and a WiFi router acting as access-point that just stopped working for reasons unknown -- plug in sender, flashed on, then died. Got this thinking I could remove the 2nd router kludged to act as an access point since it has wireless at the receiving end. Yep. Plugged in unit at the router/modem end, plugged in cable. Went downstairs and plugged in the receiver/WiFi. Launched the app, renamed the network, done. Figured it'd take an hour or so to do it all, done in 10 minutes.

Wired connection is good, wi-fi connection is very unreliable
The wired connection is fast and stable (watching YouTube on smart TVs work with zero stutter or drop outs), so I know it's not a problem with the house wiring. The wi-fi connection on the same house power wiring (even the same outlets) is extremely frustrating. Both Skype connections and attempting to watch YouTube on the same smart TV is unusable, even when 10 feet or less from the wi-fi access point. Not recommended, unfortunately.

Easy to setup and easy to use
I recommend using any of the zyxel powerline products. This one in particular is nice because you are able to create a remote WiFi network if the area shares an electrical connection with the main building that houses your router- in my case a studio space in a garage on the back of our lot. This solved many problems that result from MacBooks without Ethernet ports etc( or any ports for that matter). We are also able to stream movies on the tv without a direct connection. Inexpensive and easy to setup with a smartphone.

Disappointing speed
Installed this on two floors in my house, both lower than my router floor. I stream television via Roku and had to re-connect my Roku wirelessly to my upstairs router instead of this unit, because the speeds are too slow, causes choppy pictures. Zyxel signal shows as stronger, which is expected since it is closer to the Roku, but the speed is noticeably slower.
