Reflective Writing (Pocket Study Skills)

This is a handy little book which provides a good introduction to reflective writing. Students who are required to carry out reflective writing can find the task a bit hard to pin down as to what it exactly means, and I would recommend this short book as a good introduction that helps ground the process. There are some clear examples and good guidelines on how consider what is being required in an assessment that includes reflective writing. For the size and price, it is very helpful. Personally I would have liked a little more theory as well, but in fairness, the series is called 'Pocket Study Skills' - not theory. It would have helped to include a 'Further Reading' section, and I wondered if the references could have been a little more up to date. Although I am not very familiar with the topic, I did note that a couple of the references were for books that were no longer available or only available second hand. This may be less of a problem for the reader that just wants some help with skills. The book could suit a range of readers - certainly undergraduate level. Post graduate readers may want to also look at original sources, such as those indicated in the references, but I will be recommending this to undergrad and postgrad students who are new to the topic.

Excellent little book. So clear and concise about what can be a difficult topic to grasp. Well recommended no matter what your level of education or profession.

After finishing university I hoped reflection would never be mentioned again however it was already being mentioned two weeks into my first job as a nurse!Thankfully this small book helped me to understand its importance and I would recommend this to students and qualified nurses
