The System of the World

Few thinkers can see the universe in mathematical terms and account for natural forces in a way that would allow lesser minds to acquire the tools to be able to manipulate these forces for the benefit of all mankind. Mathematics allows all science and technology to advance. By learning the math, even the common man can acquire the tools that can change his world for the better. Now we must demand that our politicians pass a math test before being allowed to serve. It would be well that they would also be able to express themselves at a level above the third grade.

Great book! It's a classic I would recommend to anyone.

I can tell you that I can read this in a few hours if that. Important messages are what counts. I would have more stars, however, I was not expecting the book to be so thin and very few pages. For the price I guess is with it. I'll be ordering more by Sir Isaac Newton.

Isaac Newton opened the door to a better understanding of the Physical Sciences, which helped mankind to advance more in the last 300 years, than in the previous 3,000 years. It is good for any modern researcher to read of his thoughts, in their original wording. That is to better understand them, in order to create ones own original advancements in science.

Mind blown. Almost accurate description of the solar system dynamics - almost 300 years ago - plus the beginning of modern calculus. A bit too many OCR errors, but nothing that you can't figure out from the context.

I need to reread it again and again. Newton is one of the most important mathematicians in he history of mathematics.

Wer sich nicht durch das voluminöse Standard-Werk von Isaac Newton durcharbeiten will oder kann, hat mit "The System of the World" einen guten Einstieg. Hier kann man sich mit der Sprache und Denkweise Newtons vertraut machen, die erstaunlich modern anmuten. Es macht eben schon einen Unterschied, ob man First-Hand-Infos direkt von der Quelle hat oder sich diese über andere Physiker oder Wissenschafts-Journalisten zu holen.

Ce livre est un must pour ceux qui s'intéresse tant soit peu à la science. Dans cette édition, je trouve par endroit des retours à la ligne mal placés et il faut de faire une idée de la fréquence à laquelle arrive ce genre d'imperfection avant de pouvoir lire sans être trop gêné, mais je soupçonne que ce défaut vienne d'une édition antérieure, puisque celle-ci n'est qu'une reproduction d'une édition. A part ce défaut, c'est un bon rapport qualité-prix pour propager la culture scientifique au maximum de lecteurs!
