I don't buy expensive items just because a fad or it looks good. I buy stuff that works good and I am willing to pay a little extra for quality outdoor clothing. That is why I purchased this cleaner to wash my outdoor clothing. I take care of my clothing, so it takes care of me. This Technical Gear Wash Performance Detergent gets my stuff clean and keeps the waterproofing from braking down and prolong the life of my jackets and stuff.

I got the Concentrated Technical Gear Wash Performance Detergent to prepare my cool weather technical gear for cool or wet weather. Sure, as I write this review, it's 102 degrees in my little corner of Southern California. So it's not likely I will use my water-repellant technical gear anytime soon. But it doesn't hurt to be prepared, so I rounded up my waterproof windbreakers and tossed them in the wash with this Gear Wash Performance Detergent.I won't know how effective the treatment is in maintaining water repellency until we get cool or wet weather. But at least it's clean. And as one who has noticed reduced water repellency with my technical outdoor gear after washing it with convention laundry detergent, I like the concept behind this product. I think the bottle should be printed with line markings on the transparent portion of the bottle to delineate the suggested 1.5 ounces of product. That way, you don't have to defile a standard shot glass or guess how much detergent you use. Anyway, it's four stars for now.

Your jacket will become completely water permeable after being washed in it. And maintaining water repellent coating is the main reason for using a technical detergent as I am sure you will agree. If washing off water-repellent coating is an intended side effect of this product, it sure does not mention it anywhere. Thus one star, and I avoiding rain while I obtain another detergent.

This is a good technical gear detergent at a pretty reasonable price. Although it may not seem like a great bargain for 5 loads worth of detergent, if you compare the price to competitors, you'll see that technical gear washing machine detergent tends to be expensive, so this detergent is a relatively good value.
