exquisite reading
These poems read calm and real, and yet they surprise and transport. Some will become a part of you.

Excellent Poetry!
Great book for those in tune with nature. Ms. Kenyon's writing is very relaxing. I would highly recommend it.

Loved These
I started reading Jane's poems because I was familiar with her husband, Donald Hall. I was very moved by his collection Without, poems about her illness and death, and within a few years I'd read most of his poetry and prose. I purchased this collection almost as an afterthought, and was immediately taken by it--I felt embraced by these poems. This is the first Collected Poems by anyone that I've read from cover to cover.

Jane's writing has a way of cracking my soul.
Jane Kenyon has been my favorite poet for a while now, but I never had a book of her work. She has such a way with making her unique experiences and circumstances seem universal. Jane speaks to me in a way no other poet ever has, she speaks of love and pain, or heartbreak and apathy – all of this and more while staying completely grounded and human. She doesn't attempt to be 'fake deep,' as some poets do now. It's such a shame there isn't more publicity about her today, because she truly was a treasure.

Love this Woman
I love my Wife more than my next breath. I read this book before, after and during Donald Halls, "Without: Poems." It was the most dramatic, heart wrenching writing I have ever read. Both of them, together. That is how you should read it. Even though you can't allow Kenyon's work to be tinged by her early death, you need to read these together. Kenyon opens her soul to the changes in her life, her husband, his family, how his family home becomes the fabric of her art, and the beauty she finds hidden in the shadows of the land during her dark nights.I am also a person of that twilight horizon. The edge is always near to me, but like Kenyon my love draws me back to the morning light. There is the notice of Life in this book.

Jane Kenyon is one of my favorite poets.
An excellent collection of all of Jane Kenyon's published works, presented in chronological order, which I found useful in following the course of her life. While many of her poems are spiritual, they are not overtly religious. In spite of the melancholy nature of much of her work, I find her poems uplifting. Easy to commit portions to memory. I especially like to recall the last part of "Briefly It Enters, Briefly Speaks": "... I am the one whose love/ overcomes you, already with you/ when you think to call my name. . . ." Her poems are a glimpse into a lovely life lived in appreciation of nature, people, relationships. A beautiful poet.

I have many of her books and this one is just about perfect. So sorry she is no longer here
Such a remarkable poet. I have many of her books and this one is just about perfect. So sorry she is no longer here, but so grateful for the poems she created to leave with us to enjoy. Appreciate her willingness to deal with difficult topics and her deep love of and appreciation of nature.

read and loved it, passed it on to a friend
I bought a copy, read and loved it, passed it on to a friend, bought another for myself, shared it again and then bought another. A poetry reading by Robert Bly years ago led me to Kenyon's poetry and translations and this collection is one to live with and share. She is one of my favorite poets.. Collected Poems

just arrived yesterday and I spent the evening with it ...
just arrived yesterday and I spent the evening with it; the only poem I'd read of hers, Let Evening Come, led me to buy the collection; the poems I've read so far are just as breathtaking

Depressing
I'm afraid I found these poems depressing so I didn't finish reading the book.
