Excellent Product, Excellent Support
Configuration:I have used various Routers in 20 years. The Medialink AC-1200R is the easiest and most comprehensive Router used to date, including open source DD-WRT and Tomato. As a default, the channel selection for 2.4 & 5 Ghz are in “auto”. It correctly selected least congested channels. This is extremely import in WiFi, as interference is more of an issue today than signal level with congested RF airways. The configuration is very nicely laid out. It took only few minutes to configure the Router.Performance:No more drop-outs. The Router is located in one end of the house, downstairs. I used to have a drop-outs in upstairs room furthest from the Router. Per instruction, set one antenna in horizontal polarization (for upstairs) and one antenna in vertical polarization (for downstairs). No dead spots in the house.Gotta love the beamforming technology. I’ve only seen this technology in expensive Routers or in enterprise level Router, i.e. Ruckus. WiFi is shared with all users on the same network or channel; while one is in use, others cannot use. The beamforming allows one to get on and off the airway faster to minimize congestion and delay. The built in 1Ghz Switch (wired Ethernet) was a must for me for connecting two 1Ghz Switches in my home network. I use wired network for Streaming and transferring files.Tech Support:I ran into a quirky issue that I have never seen before. After changing the Router password, it would not accept my password. It would splash the password input page, but not take the new password. I had to hard reset the Router to gain access again. Same thing occurred with different PCs, browsers, and OS.Not being a pressing issue, I contacted Tech Support via email over the weekend. I did not expect a reply until the following Monday. However, I got a reply the same day. The Tech said they have never heard of the issue that I was experiencing. He suggested replacing the unit.Several days later, received a new unit with pre-printed return postage. I had the same password issue with replacement Router. At this point, logic dictates that the problem is not likely with the Router. It turned out to be an issue with my antivirus program, Bitdefender. Once I turned off the firewall in Bitdefender, I can access the Router configuration. I am still flummoxed how a firewall prevented access within the Application Layer (password splash page). It is very refreshing to see a company standing behind their product. I am now a fan of Medialink and highly recommend Medialink AC-1200R Router. I look forward to using Medialink AC-1200R as a Repeater or an Access Point.

I hope my router and I live happily ever after!
I had a router that was a few years old that kept dropping service at the far side of my home. After doing some research about routers, I determined that there were some features that my old router did not have that would be desirable. I really wanted a router with beam forming technology, dual band, with Gigabit speed, and I really liked the idea of a guest password. I also like the fact that this Medialind AC1200 had a small footprint, and could be set up vertically to save space. After research, I realized there were 3 grades of routers - basic, mid and top - and the prices for each group went up quite a bit. I was happy to find the features I wanted on a router that was reasonably priced ($59.99) when other routers with these features could be $100 or $200 or more. I also learned that the class or grad of router needed depends on how it will be used, and the amount of devices I would be connecting. After adding up my devices - I was surprised to learn that I had 13 devices to connect!!! No wonder my old Belkin 150 was having a rough go! Now, I am not a gamer, but I do like my streaming videos, computers, printer, tablets, phone, smart thermostat, and Alexas (3), and Rokus, Apple TV, Amazon Fire...I need to start going shopping for clothes and stay away from the electronics, huh? Anyway, I was happy when I found this Meadialink AC1200 Gigabit Router and now that I it is out of the box and connected to all 13 devices I am thrilled! The dual band is good, because some of my devices have a little age on 'em, so they cannot work with the 5Ghz, so that is something to consider when purchasing a router. If all my devices would need a 5Ghz, then maybe a router with two 5 Ghz bands would be good. But some devices needed the 2.4 Ghz that I did not realize until I was in the process of connecting. The set up was all in all very easy. I had trouble connecting my smart thermostat, but the problem might have been me - although I'm blaming the thermostat - not the router. I like the security of the Medialink router too. It is possible to change the password to one of your choosing, and setting parental limits is possible as welll. The speed and connection is much improved. I am so happy with the performance of this router, the price and it's features.
