71301 Hylomar Compound Solvent Free Sealant - 3.5 oz. Tube

It performed and sealed the tank! NO LEAKS!

For some reason this stuff is getting harder to find. It's one of the best gasket compounds ever! The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that while there is a good applicator tip included, there is no cap for it. This results in messy leakage and waste of an otherwise great product.

First tried this product when it was sold as Permatex Hylomar HPF and loved it! Gaskets sealed up nicely and disassembly of parts after using this product was a breeze - no more scraping old gaskets off, they usually lift off intact (even re-used a few gaskets that I normally would have replaced). Permatex stopped selling the product so it was great to find it sold here. Tacky enough to hold gaskets in place but not wicked sticky, surfaces usually wipe clean and don't require solvents or scraping.

I use this to seal items that may have to be removed, and for items which may need a more flexible seal due to heat and cold cycling, etc. Specifically, valve cover gaskets that do not call for a sealant (but which may leak anyway), intake manifold gaskets, paper gaskets which are recommended to be installed "dry", and so on. Nothing works like Hylomar. I also use it in place of Permatex #3, because it's easier to use and more effective.

Used this product to seal a rocker box lid on a Harley Evo engine. The Hylomar went liquid from the heat of the engine and caused a mess. Totally inappropriate for gasket work on air cooled engines with high oil pressure system.

Another great Hylomar product. Use when you need super sticky adhesion with no gasket slippage - blind install locations, for example. A little more difficult to apply than regular Hylomar, but definitely exactly the right product for some applications.

Great product for tough applications. It does not set up and fills small voids so reinstalling gasket is easy.

This solvent free formula is hard to fine.Works great a a sealant for those thin paper upper intake manifolds gaskets.
