I love reading about the royals and I discovered a lot of royals who were completely NEW to me. This author is an excellent researcher and really uncovers fabulous facts and details you won't find anywhere else. I give this book my highest recommendation!

Fast easy read, good content just what I expected

I love history and especially history about fascinating, powerful women who have altered history. Marlene Wagman-Geller’s book Royal Women has the perfect ingredients for all readers interested in learning about the Queens, Princesses, Duchesses, and other Royal Women throughout many eras. Each chapter is well written and provides behind the scenes looks at these incredible women who regardless of power, money and means, remain simply women who face the issues and problems that all women throughout time have endured. Wagman-Geller’s books are well researched and written in an excellent straight forward way laced with drama and humor. You will love this book.

Why are we so interested in the lives of The Royals? It seems like the whole world is fascinated with the lives of Royals... many times individuals fantasize and long for the life that The Royals "appear" to have. This book gives incredible insight into the lives of Royal Women from 1501 to present day. For example the author covers the emotional horror that Queen Anne would have endured prior to her execution. Before the execution of Queen Anne, after King Henry VIII got bored with her, so he accused her of being unable to control her "carnal lust", Anne said kind words about the king and the executioner to spare the life of her only daughter. --Heart wrenching!The author (Marlene) true to her style, writes about Princesses, Duchesses, and Other Regal Women in chronological order from the UK to Russia, from Iran to Albania, from Spain to Monaco, from Austria to Japan, from Italy to India, from France to Romania, and so on. Marlene reminds us that Elvis Presley's song, "Blue Hawaii" was sung to honor Queen Liluokalani, the last Queen of Hawaii, and honor her story.This book covers the majesty, mayhem, and sometimes massacre of these women. Not bad because it includes some backstory info about royal women I've never heard of. As for the more well known women it adds nothing new.

I am a history buff, particularly of royalty, aristocracy, and society. This book should have been a no brainer for me to enjoy. A good light fluff piece. I wasn't expecting to read much new information in it since I have read full scale biographies on many of the people who populate this book.What I was NOT expecting was to find so many inaccuracies. I mean this author still thinks Marie Antoinette said "let them eat cake", which I believe in 7th grade I learned wasn't accurate, and since then have ready so many academic and trade books that all are basically in agreement that Marie Antoinette never uttered those words. Once I read that part of the book I admit I was probably biased for the rest, and suspect of anything the author wrote.It's hard for me to make a book like this boring, but somehow I was not at all interested in most of the chapters.I was going to give this one star, but gave it an extra star because the author does include several people in the book that I was either unaware of or knew little about. However, after reading this book I can't claim to say I know much more about these people, and especially not much more about them than can be found on their Wikipedia pages.Save your money on the book and donate it to Wikipedia to get the same information in this book.However, I did enjoy the author's previous book Women Of Means very much, and would explore her next book in the hopes it is more of what I am looking for.

Royal Women is a delightful blend of history and anecdotes that span 500 years of famous ( and infamous) Royal women. The author Marlene Wagman Geller has distilled massive research into 36 short biographies. They are just the right length to provide a genuine sense of the life and times that kept me turning pages. The bios are like potato chips that you can't stop eating-- but in this case, can't stop reading. I love it when I learn something while being entertained.

No great detail but easy to follow stories some historical.

This book was interesting but unfortunately I thought it would cover a little more of the earlier Royal women, but I would say it was worth the money.

Too light-weight - very little depth! This reads as though it was written for school kids learning about history. Also, the book should have been better proof-read - English language! This promised to be an interesting study into royal women through the centuries, but transpired to be merely tickling the surface of those women and their history. Disappointing.

Definitely not worth buying. So full of typos and errors. Want my money back
