Thus far, we have used this mandoline for slicing and dicing onions, carrots, apples, and parsnips. It is not difficult to assemble, even the first time, but the instructions could be clearer, especially about how to position the food catcher and the little flap knobs that govern part of the process. Even with low-grade mechanical intuition and skill, I was able to figure these out quickly, The slicer is very efficient and produces neat, uniform slices. The safety features are so good that we feel confident using it. It does not require much strength to operate. It disassembles easily. Between the nifty little brush (included) and our dishwasher, it was cleaned in a jiffy. We kept the original box to store it in.

THE PRICEOkay, so although I sneered at the price, I considered other ways I spend my money, and decidedthat if this gadget made working in the kitchen more fun, I was more apt to cook, and stay awayfrom fast food. Done. I love using it, and experimenting with cut size, so it was worth it to me. It doessave time, and time is also money, so... Add one to your cart, and wait for the price to go down. It will.2. THE SAFETYYou would need to TRY to hurt yourself on this tool, unlike using a flat mandoline, which for me, is almost a guaranteed accident. It comes with a nifty tool, so you should not ever need to put your fingers anywhere near the blade. If there is a tiny bit of food left in the slicing chamber, just give the lever a few more presses. If it doesn't come out then, it should when you remove the chute and rinse it, especially if you have the blades open wide. If your vegetable falls sideways, add more veggies to support each other, or use a tool to lift the veggie back into upright position before cutting. Yes, the blades are very sharp!THE VARIABLE CUT SIZES:The little dials are not complicated at all. If you turn the main knob to a number (1 is thin, but not THE thinnest) you can then open and turn one, or both of the little knobs to julienne wide or narrow. If you look into the gadget while you are turning the little knobs, you can see the little blades coming out, so you will understand how they work. The variety of cut sizes is plentiful! While I have no complaints, I will mention the cut is on an angle, so carrots, jalapenos and other tubular veggies tend to be elongated and not so much circles. Not a problem for me. They look cool! See photos, and also for the carrot the thickness of a dime, which was cut on the very first click of the dial. By opening both of the julienne blade controls, you can easily have matchstick veggies, which I find amazing. I've been looking for matchstick julienne for years. This is it!THE CHUTE:Place your goodies into the chute, and use the cap to press them into the blades as you push the handle down. You do not have to push hard on either the handle or the cap. Don't slam the handle down each time, or your vegetables will fly off. Gently, but consistently.CLEANING:It is a breeze to clean, especially if you pass it under running water right after you use it. I don't advise soaking this tool, as you may forget it is in the dishwater. Safety first. Use the handy tool it came with.STORAGE:You can put everything back into the box after you use it, or simply turn and press the handle in, and fold the legs in for storage. Easy. No fuss.FINAL THOUGHTS:If something happened to this gadget, I would definitely buy another one. I love it so much, that my first thought was "I want to buy one of these for friends and family."OH, AND WAS THIS REVIEW PAID, or DID I RECEIVE ANY FREE GOODIES?Absolutely not. I leave reviews, especially positive reviews, when I like a product this much.Just order one already.

It works well with potatoes, celery, carrots and other hard vegetables. Does not work well with soft foods. It is fast and easy to use, a good choice for the money.

I had been thinking about purchasing a mandoline for a while, but I wondered if I really needed one. I bought this one based on the design, the price, and the reviews. It took me a little minute to assemble only because I accidentally tossed the instruction manual, and I couldn't figure out how to unlock the plunger. After I got past that (you have to twist the plunger), I was off to the races! It took me less than 5 minutes to uniformly slice 10 big cucumbers with absolutely no effort. To clean it, all I did was spray water through it. It's got little suction cups on the bottom to keep it steady, it folds flat to store, and you can't accidentally cut yourself while using it. You'd have to go poking around pretty far in there to hit the blade. I'm looking forward to chopping carrots with it. I hate the way they roll around on my cutting board when trying to slice more than one at a time. The only thing is I wish the hopper were wide enough to slice eggplant. But I suppose I could cut them down first.I'm going to buy another one to keep on deck in case this one breaks. That's how much I "don't" need this thing. LOL

I was looking for a new and better way to slice up my weekly meal prep of summer sausage and block cheese. Previously I was using a wire string block and this thing blows it out of the water. It is so easy to operate, almost effortless. the spring loaded slicer makes it a quick breeze to slice and dice. I felt safe operating it. Its easy to clean by hand or toss in the dishwasher. I also like that it isn't big and bulky so it doesn't take up a lot of room to store in the cupboard either. Bonus find was that it comes with suction cups in the bottom of the base so it's extra sturdy and doesn't move when in use. Great value for the price, size, and versatility. 10/10 would recommend.

I purposefully never bought a mandoline because I was sure to slice up my knuckles. Then I saw this little gadget on Amazon and decided to give it a try. I waited after a few months of use to, a) make sure I was still using it, and b) it still performed like when it was new. I have to say I'm very pleased with this slicer. It slices (I guess it dices too but haven't figured that out yet) uniformly and easily just by applying a little pressure to the vegetable cup. I'm very pleased with this device and it's dishwasher safe so you can't go wrong with this.

Assembling this mandoline would not be difficult for someone who is used to fixing and assembling mechanical objects, but it was intimidating for me. I read the instructions twice and managed to get the mandoline together. Next I had to face the problem that the tomato that I wanted to slice wouldn't fit into the food chute. I used a knife to slice off two sides of the tomato and then used the mandoline to slice the rest of it. It worked fine, as advertised. This mandoline is entirely made of plastic. It appears to be a high-grade plastic and sturdy, but I'll have to see how it holds up. It was relatively easy to clean. Not having anywhere to store it, I disassembled it and put it back in its box.

My wife has a large mandolin with an open blade and is afraid to use it because of that. This unit provides maximum safety by not having an open blade and by having a "plunger" that pushes down on the vegetables being sliced. We haven't tried all the options yet by the basic slicer works like a charm. Very easy to use.
