Great for working w/ a Smoker
What a HUGE improvement over trying to use forks, tongs and other tools to manipulate hot food!Used the gloves for the 1st time on Mother's Day 2009, smoking a pair of 5 lb pork butts in my Weber Smokey Mountain charcoal-fired smoker. They were great! I was able to work with the hot meat, moving the butt on the bottom rack to the top and the butt on the top rack to the bottom. I was able to pull the pork, without having to stop or hesitate due to my hands burning. Wrapping the finished meat in foil for the mandatory "rest period" prior to pulling was a cinch with these gloves.I am glad I bought these longer length gloves, as opposed to the "Steven Raichlen Best of Barbecue SR8037 Insulated Food Gloves, Pair".Next time I have something hot to try to carve, these gloves will be just the ticket! Easy to wash too - just wash your hands w/ the gloves on.

Great for Frying a turkey or just regular BBQ
These gloves were my saviors during this past Thanksgiving. Our family decided to try out frying our turkey and when placing the turkey in the oil, there's a bit of splatter yet these gloves give you safety and confidence. Once the splatter begins, it's almost intuitive to just lower it down faster or drop it out of fear which could lead to serious injury. I had super hot oil splatter all over these things and didn't feel a thing. I also used them to get a good hold of the turkey when I was carving it. I put them on and wash my hands with regular soap as you would wash bare hands. I've used them already this year when barbecuing to flip kabobs by hand with ease. I love these.-----------How do I rate the items I bought?Every product that I bought starts at 3 Stars and gets subtractions oradditions as we go depending on how well it performs according to myexpectation and whether the item perform as advertised. In veryunusual cases that I have tried or tested some items and can’t provethat it did or didn’t work, I will likely default to 3 stars just tobe neutral. Most important of all, I don’t owe a good or bad review toany product or seller; I am here to provide a constructive feedback onthe items I bought in order to help you, the reader, to make aninformed decision on which product to purchase to satisfy your needs.Be aware that when I tested a product and it worked well for me, butit failed for you, it does not reflect that my review is inaccurate,it's most likely you have received a defective product, yourexpectations were too high or it did not perform in a way that youfelt was described in the product description. In any of these casesyou should get in touch with the seller to rectify the problem as soonas possible. I received item at a discount for an honest/unbiasedreview it does not change my opinion on a product.

More properly described as "hot food-handling" gloves
I bought this exact pair of gloves five years ago. I have used them dozens of times and have also had the same experience - the entire fingers of mine have become hard as well. Which isn't that big of a deal except it makes them harder to wash under the sink while wearing them and not as comfortable with a good tactile "feel" as when new. I consider them to be disposable in the long run for this reason. By the way, other reviewers have commented that you cannot use them as regular grill gloves because they don't have the same heat resistance - this is also my experience - mine have melted "grill marks" because of when I have tried to use them to handle hot grill grates and they nearly melted through. For this reason, these should NOT be called "barbecue gloves" - they are really "food-handling" gloves. Nowadays I use mine for pulling meats off the barbecue pit and for preparing meats for serving but use proper barbecue gloves for handling hot metals such as grates, temperature probes, etc. The problem is that proper barbecue gloves don't have the "easy-clean" ability of food-handling gloves. It's a bit of a shame that I haven't run across one pair of "dual-purpose" gloves.

Great for Food Prep and Pit Work
I wear XL Gloves and these fit very well. I use these for bbq prep as it's a lot easier to wash my gloved hands than it is to dry out my hands with washing between trimming, dry brining, & applying the rub. I use these to "pull" pork instead shredding it with bear claws. Also they are insulated enough for me to grab the meat or pans directly from the smoker. Not brave enough to use on temps above 325-350° though.Only knock I have is getting them off by myself.

Good quality
Used them to get hot chicken off a barbecue rack.

Quality
The insulation material is pretty thin and the heat goes through it to your hand pretty fast

Good gloves for the price.
Pretty nice gloves.Pretty boring to look at, plain black gloves. Nothing wrong with this though, since they're just for BBQ.They're a little large, which I like because my hands are not small. For smaller hands they may not fit well. They seem durable, and we'll made. With no smell like some rubber products have. The insulation is pretty thin. It's fine for low temp stuff like BBQ. I used them after smoking 2 whole chickens, and could not feel much heat through the gloves after the smoker had been on 3 hours at 225 deg. I would not use then taking a hot pan out of a 400 deg oven. The price can't be beat, and I'd order them again .
