DISH HopperGO Travel DVR

Seems to work OK, stored lots of movies on it but haven't taken it on a trip yet.

HopperGo is no longer supported by Dish network. Really like the concept but could not get to work. Would not update the firmware so that it would work. Spent about 2 hours with Dish trying to figure it out to no avail. I have the latest receiver Hopper 3 with sling and still no luck getting the HopperGo to work.

It is a great device, The content is transferred via the dish anywhere app, the device itself creates its own Wi-Fi to connect to to watch the content. Works great everywhere. It is my daughters favorite thing for a long car ride.

If I could give it zero stars I would... it does not do what I was told that it would do. I can not cast the screen to my tv. I can only watch the movie on my Ipad which I did not need this device for. So I wasted $100. Does it download the movie, yes, does it play it back... yes it does... but you are not allowed to cast it to a tv... what good is that? Your Ipad will already do this with out a hopper go... for free.

I was so excited to receive the Hopper Go after finding it out of stock and back ordered. Well, I had no idea the good folks at Dish Network require a Hopper with Sling (not a Sling Adapter, like I purchased) DVR or Hopper 3. I called to ask about exchanging my current DVR for a Hopper with Sling and would they give me credit for the Sling Adapter that I bought for Dish Anywhere. I was told for $64.xx they could come out and change my DVR to Hopper with Sling, or $150.00 they can change it to the sweet 16 tuner Hopper 3. Very cool, but I was not asked what unit I wanted and I got the non Hopper with Sling. Also, the sling box I already had wouldn't work with the new Dish equipment. This is not very good, IMO. I first got a Tailgaiter for my RV. I go camping and have no signal of any kind in some places. I thought how nice it would be to have the Hopper Go! Well, in theory, it is nice and wonderful, as Sling needs streaming capability. I am frustrated at the level of each provider having their proprietary and incompatible (by design) obsolete equipment. Buyer be warned. Try to pry as much info as you can get before spending money. I am considering returning the Hopper Go, but I waited a long time to get one, thinking all I need is the Hopper Go. I plugged in the Hopper Go, which is in perfect condition and not long after, the screen says your equipment is (____) not compatible with Hopper Go. What a bummer. I am going to hear back or check back with anyone who knows how to make this work on my current equipment, I would be grateful. My equipment is called Hopper 2000 (duo- I don't recall being asked which unit I wanted earlier this year) and I have a Sling Adapter, which works fine for Dish Anywhere, but I don't always have cell service or wifi for streaming on the go. Hence, I wanted Hopper GO. Sigh... This is not the seller's fault, but I wish when buying these things, there would be a check list for what equipment you have before buying something that is incompatible without buying the other thing. This is all too common with all the competing providers and their desire to sell and charge people more.

This Portable Hopper is one of the best things that Dish Network has ever done. This little box lets me carry all of my shows on me when I’m on the go. Love it!! Highly Recommend

Connecting the device to the service isn't just plug and play but it worked after some time. Not all shows can be saved on it due to copyright so it's not exactly the same as the Dish receiver. I've downloaded some shows but my computer has been showing lag time that I haven't figured out why. I'm not convinced it is worth the money. It should be about $50. I think I would have waited for a further version for them to clear up the bugs.

After purchasing the Hopper ToGo I found out that Dish will no longer support using it. That makes the unit worthless to me. I don't think it should be offered for sale if it can not be used.
