Live from Death Row

incredible job at stifling ignorance
mumia's writings are compiled to make an outstanding book that breaks down the injustices of the us prison and court systems, while providing a shocking view of the death row inmates' situation. the book was truly eye opening. certain descriptions of injustice were enough to make my jaw drop as i sat in disbelief. other examples that mumia provides will elicit a strong emotional response. it is truly horrifying to read about the suffering of prisoners inflicted by the guards. it's also horrifying to examine the ridiculous, racist biases of the prosecution against blacks. this is a book that everyone interested in destroying ignorance should read.

FREE MUMIA!
I purchased 2-shared 1 with a friend. Had the honor of meeting Mumia and listening to him on the radio before he was falsely accused. The government always silences those that speak truth against them. Which is necessary for them to remain in control of those they govern. MUMIA: "I could understand intellectually that American courts are reservoirs of racist sentiment and have historically been hostile to black defendants, but a lifetime of propaganda about American "justice" is hard to shrug off."

Modern Slave Musings
The musings of a victim of racism that endured unbelievable hardships at the hands of white supremacists. Every chapter drives home the true savage white supremacist intent of the American justice system, much like Assata Shakur’s autobiography. The only difference is this victim is still enslaved. The book is not long but it is the kind of page turner full of constructive information that you will finish in one sitting. I can’t recommend it more. I definitely intent to read more of Mumia Abu Jamal’s books.

I am the one responsible for Global Warming, Jim
My education at college began with study surrounding the American economic, political, and social order for building a strong nation. The enlightenment surrounding the usage of the Negro, the American Native indigenous Indian, the Asian Immigrant, as well as a myriad of 'white trash' labor developed a strong (fairly free and fairly democratic) society. My studies have continued into global energy economics. My fortune was to hear about this brother's plight surrounding wrongful internment. As my reading is full, I purchase in support and to surround my library with sources, in my belief or hope, that will best progress my understanding, from first person narratives. If a companion is possible, considering I have only read a few news posts surrounding Mumia Abu-Jamal's life struggle, I suggest MalcomX, Black Like Me, There is a River by Vincent Harding, Major General Smedley Darling Butler....Paper waste? I think not!Donald T. Coughlin

This is a revolutionary classic
Mumia Abu-Jamal is an award winning journalist who became a political prisoner when he was convicted for murder based on tampered evidence, police misconduct and determination of the state to keep him quiet. The state failed in that attempt. He has written many brilliant books read all around the world. He is commonly called 'The Voice of the Voiceless'.He rarely writes about himself, but comments on life on death row, about current affairs, about the need for people to come together to change the world. I would recommend this book to anyone looking to find an understanding of why the world is the way it is today and how to change it.

FREE MUMIA
Thank you Mumia, for your life. I am loving you from prison & praying for your release. The world knows you are not guilty now. The whole world sees the pattern of police brutality on our people of color & we love you, Mumia, for you are last of a dying breed.

He did explain how innocent people can be incarcerated and he described how prisoners are often terribly mistreated.
I found this book very informative and interesting. It didn't really convince me if Mumia Abu-Jamal was innocent or guilty of the charge in which he was imprisoned but it did convince me that prison and the whole criminal system are racist, unfair and immoral. It also made me wonder about real lawyers too. What are they really here to do? He did explain how innocent people can be incarcerated and he described how prisoners are often terribly mistreated.

not recommended--a bit of a false book cover
This book is very boring---to say the least. Not really very informative and not as I would have thought.I have read many books about 'death row' and this has got to be the first boring one. Sorry---not for me.
