I am a bit confused. what did you use to test your soil with after you get your sample. i am needing to test the ph. thank you

That would be something you’d likely need to do with your agriculture extension. With this tool, you push it into the ground and it is hollow , so it fills up inside with soil. Then you pull it back out of the ground and can remove the soil sample and see how wet or dry the soil is down like 6-8”. Living in Oregon, we have a lot of Spring rain and I wanted to make sure not to water too soon.

Any success using on a residential lawn with Virginia clay?

It should work with clay soil smoothly with only a moderate amount of effort.

How to empty soil sample?

Easy, just brush pt fleck soil into bucket and mix with other core samples. The probe is not totally enclosed.

Is it strong enough to be pounded into the ground with a sledgehammer? Thanks

Its strong by hand but it's hollow so I would not pound it with a sledgehammer...
