Maypole MP021 N-Type 7-Pin Trailer Board Plug 12V

I had a broken trailer board plug on my sheep trailer. I do not have the money to have the job done in a garage. I ordered this replacement after reading the reviews. The replacement was here 20 hours after ordering. I fitted it myself with the aid of one pair of electrical pliers and an electrical screwdriver. The job took me 12 minutes to complete. It has worked these past few weeks so I am pleased.

This is a good quality trailer or caravan 12N socket. It simply unscrews, flips open, then you strip the wire ends with a wire stripper to screw into the terminals. Follow the numbering on the terminals and you can't go wrong. The diagram on the item page is the view from looking at the outside end of the socket. The diagram I've posted is the image as you look at the back of the socket with the terminals on (same view as if you looked at the socket on the back of your car). This took about 10 minutes to install, using wire strippers for a decent job. I find that stripping about 5mm off and folding back on the wire, then putting the wire fully in whilst pinning the screw to the wire side always gets the most secure grip, without cutting through the wire. Alternatively, you could solder a tip on the wires and screw to these, if you have the time and soldering skills. Definitely a reliable and well recommended plug.
