New BalanceWomen's 840 V4 Running Shoe

Good Average Running Shoe
I wear a women's 840v4 8.5 2E. This shoe is okay. It has a large toe box. A Sl-2 last is used to make it.This last is much rounder in the forefoot. This is good for wide feet. The cushioning is good. But do notexpect more than 400 miles running on pavement. Also, if you run fast on pavement, it seems from mypoint of view to break down faster. Hence, glide. Say to yourself, "Relax, run smooth, run efficient, and glide."If you do this, you'll get 400 miles. These shoes will be stiff at first. Take your time. By 100 miles theyare molded to your feet. Also, suppose you wear full length orthotics. Then remove NB foot beds. Insert orthotics. They will fit. I've done it for years with "crazy" feet. I buy these because I cannot findanother running shoe that fits these "crazy" feet. (I tried NB 990's. Well, I call them the Hurricanes. Why?They have excellent cushioning. You'll not feel any road for over 650 miles. But they feel heavy. Yourcalves will know it. And, well, as I always say, "Suppose that you are in a hurricane. You are wearing theseshoes. You will not blow over. This is my point of view. At 100 lb. you'll still be standing in a hurricanewith the 990's.) Are there better shoes? Sure! But the best ones to wear are the ones that fit you.If blisters start in the first 20 miles, look for a different size or shoe. Let me add one more thing, I havenever worn out the bottom a running shoe. Would I wear these for a trail run? It would depend onthe trail. A flat dirt trail would probably be okay. I would have my questions about jumping on logs, running on large rocks, or equivalent. However, if you are like me, you have only one choice. The choicecurrently is the NB840v4. Before you try trail runs, practice on rocks, logs, water, and. so on. And byall means becareful and build up confidence before you go for the REAL ADVENTURE. (PLESE CHECK WITHCOMMENTS FROM OTHERS. WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN POINT OF VIEW.)What about rain, snow, hail, & ice? In rain your feet will be wet. Take everything out of at the insideof the shoe. Use a paper towel to dry the inside out & some of the outside. Let them dry naturally.Even if they are not dry the next day. Run in them. Light snow is not bad. But when there is 12" ofsnow it is hard to run in. Light hail hurts the face. I'm not interested in large hail. The last is ice.I have run in places where there is ice. And the advise that I can give is: "Be extremely careful whenyou run where there ice! All this has been done with the women's NB 840's.Good Luck!

Comfy shoes
Very comfortable with good support. Just bought 2 new pair to rotate. Wear with stay dry socks and silicone heel cups.

Comfortable shoe
Great comfort for wide feet and bunions. Plenty of room in box of shoe. Very comfortable for running and power walking. Have used same style for past 12 years. Great shoe except price is a little much.

Need inserts if you have high arches
Like the shoe for running but I need inserts because of high arches; I have a double AA narrow foot; great fit for slender feet; no complaints

lightweight and comfortable
really comfortable shoes. I use them for fitness classes and walking. They fit well. I wear a 9.5 B and have a narrow heel. I do not notice much heel slippage and what there is has not been a problem.

Nice shoe but check the rubber toe bumper on the inside before keeping
I tried several different New Balance shoes, so far this one is the winner for my medium arch, narrow heeled feet with moderate bunions. Nice navy blue color, plenty of width in the toe box in the wide, nice material in the upper if you need a little stretch for your bunions. Very little difference between the size 9 wide and 9.5 wide, so will probably size up for a little extra room since most people tend to buy shoes too small for their feet. Only issue was that I noticed my left foot big toe kept catching on something as I walked in the size 9.5. There was plenty of space between the end of my toe and the end of the shoe... Upon examining the shoe I found that the rubber toe bumper that extends back about an inch from the front was not installed/adhered correctly on the inside of that shoe. Instead of being smooth like the right shoe, it had big waves/ripples in it that pushed it down in to the toe box space and kept catching my toe. It's been my experience that items returned as defective just get recycled (put back out for sale), so whoever buys a size 9.5 wide in the navy check the left shoe! Edit - I ordered a replacement pair same size/color hoping the manufacturing defect was a fluke, but same problem (though not as drastic) on the new pair. The same shoe in the size 9 wide navy does not have the problem. In the grey version I ordered (very pretty color!) the 9 wide pair has the problem but not the 9.5 wide so I guess it's very hit or miss - if you like them enough you may have to keep trying until you get a good pair.

Finally a workout sneaker for plantar faciitis
I have been suffering with plantar faciitis for years and finally found the right Doctor, right work boots and shoes, but struggled finding a workout sneaker. These are great. Not too stiff, but great support and fits my insert perfectly. Doesn’t hurt that they look great, or like so many of the new clown shoe styles out for foot problems. I bought them in 2 colors. Well worth the cost.

Great fit
I needed a shoe with good heel stability and this is it. My feet are a little narrow and fit is snug all around and quite comfortable. I tend to get hip pain, but this shoe is cushioned enough that it has not been a problem.

Box and shoes contradict each other.
The box said 2E. The shoes inside have a tag that says E. They are too narrow. I thought shipping was included! Why did I get a bill from FedEx for $12.95? I refuse to pay this.

This running shoe is the best for my 12 hour busy running around nursing work shifts. So comfortable. Love them.
