Its so hard to find GOOD Brazilian Portuguese language resources... If you're struggling to find a definitive textbook/guide or if you simply want to take your vocabulary to the next level: THIS BOOK IS FOR YOU!This book and "How to say anything in Portuguese" (which is out of print, I believe, making it VERY expensive on Amazon but totally worth paying $40-50 for a serious student of the language) are simply the two BEST vocabulary/expression resources for learning Portuguese at an intermediate/advanced level. I would say I am an intermediate level student. I know all the basics for food, household items, clothese, etc, but since I live part-time in Brazil, I need to take my vocabulary to the level of fluency.The book is clearly organized with sections on nearly every aspect of daily life from "travel" to "food/cooking" to "technology" to "mailing letters/packages" to "Family reunions" to "fixing/buying a car" this book has everything. The labeling and organizing of the book isn't even the best part-- its the great, highly detailed drawings to accompany and identify the great specific terms it offers. For someone who need to communicate in real life situations, you need to know how to go to a computer repair store and say specific terms like "usb port" or "external harddrive" OR go to a grocery store and decipher the labels in Portuguese that identify the different types of meats and cheeses (Halibut, swiss cheese, rainbow trout!) OR pick up a perscription medicine and read the directions, ie "take with a meal" OR say to a tailor that you need your pants hemmed or let out. For the serious student, you need this reference around just in case you need to say "Parking garage" "health insurance card" "Orthodontist" "Frying pan" or "Community college" or a host of other words a part of daily life you won't find in a translation dictionary.That being said, this book would be nice if youre a beginner to the language or aren't seeking fluency, but it could definitely be overwhelming and isn't necessary at that level of learning. But for someone seeking fluency, someone who travels to Brazil often, or someone who is going to live in Brazil, this book should be a required reading!*** UPDATE: This book works both ways for Brazilians learning English and for English-Speakers learning Brazilian Portuguese. However, you can tell the original intention of the book was for BRAZILIANS to learn ENGLISH. I realized that after studying the book a while because I noticed many words/concepts are American and don't have an equivalent in Brazil (ie: Donut shop, Diner) however, the book does not contain Brazilian items not found in the US (ie Acerola, Graviola, CPF). In addition, the book has a small section of discussion questions to converse about and these are all in English, covering basic English concepts, with no Portuguese translation.Also, I have found that the Portuguese words in the book always use the Sao Paulo preferred term rather than the term from other regions such as Rio (ie, in Sao Paulo bus stops are Parada de onibus, but in Rio they are Ponto de onibus.) But these are just occasional words.

The best of the best book to help Brazilian people to learn vocabulary in English. Thank you, I loved it.

Multilingual is multi-talented!!! We have a new English as a Second language program at the High school, so we wanted some books for our other students to use to learn how to communicate.

It is meant more for brazilian learners of English because the excericises are in English, but because it have the definite article of the Portuguese words, you are able to learn the gender of words and thus it works great for learners of Portuguese, too! Definitely the best one yet! I have found others but they are defulted to European Portuguese which can cause misunderstandings, so I love this one! Plus it gives senerios of everyday things that people in the US do, so you are easily able to find specific topics and be able to talk about your life in the US that you won't find in other teaching books like going to the DMV/Secretary of state, and things similar to that.

I think there's no better dictionary than this for people learning English. It's more than an average dictionary. It really shows you the meaning of the words with beautiful and clear graphics and much more. I purchased this for Portuguese speaking learners, but it's available in many others languages.

If you are a visual learner this is the book for you. I bought the book used and the condition is very good. No markings just a little wear on the book cover. I didn't give it a 5 star rating because if you are not a fluent speaker you will need to have a voice translator handy. I use the google translator app. Other than that this is a great book.

This dictionary kind of reminds me of a really good language book you would give students in about jr. High or high school to teach them a new language. The pictures are beautiful and the book is easy to navigate. I wish they had a second one after you learn what is in this one

I bought this for my Brazilian girlfriend who speaks basic English already. She loves it and it helps her to build her vocabulary. Definitely recommend to any Brazilian who knows basic English and wants to learn more.

Best book to learn english

Compré este libro o mejor, podría decirse, revista, porque eché un vistazo a cómo era y la manera de enseñarte el vocabulario y mepareció increíble!! Como comento, más que un libro parece como si estuvieses ojeando una revista, tacto suave, fácil de pasar páginas y totalmente visual para que puedas aprender vocabulario de una manera muy eficaz y rápida! Cada página trata de un tema diferente: las horas, números, el hotel, la casa, las herramientas, la ropa, las obras, etc. Todo este vocabulario se muestra de una forma visual, cada objeto representado por su imagen y no solo se muestran sustantivos, si no que cada temática también presenta de una forma visual los verbos y adjetivos esenciales. Tiene cientos de páginas pero la verdad es que no se olvida de ningún tema esencial! Al final de cada tema también se puede encontrar un pequeño texto en el que se puede leer algunas de las palabras puestas en práctica!El libro comienza desde lo que se puede considerar el nivel más bajo de inglés hasta un nivel intermedio-avanzado. Siempre habrá alguna palabra que te sorprenda y desconocías! Me parece una idea genial y la verdad que las imágenes y diseño están muy bien trabajados!En concreto yo compré la versión bilingüe inglés-portugués ya que tengo los dos idiomas y lo único que podría poner como pega es que en lo que se refiere a los textos solo están escritos en inglés, lo que me sorprendió al tratarse de una versión bilingüe. En cuanto al resto es perfecto, todo exactamente igual, imágenes, vocabulario y todo en ambos idiomas para que pueda relacionarse perfectamente.Lo recomiendo totalmente! Para aquellos que quieran aprender o refrescar y le dé pereza coger un libro de vocabulario y ponerse a estudiar como solemos hacer en un método más tradicional. Me parece un libro muy bien estructurado en cuanto a la organización que sigue para enseñar el vocabulario.

Pour qui maitrise l'anglais ou sait reconnaitre tout simplement les images proposées, on se retrouve avec une façon d'apprendre très ludique qui révolutionne l'apprentissage des langues. Complet, aborde la vie de tous les jours (vêtement, nourriture, médecin, nature et environnement, métiers et relatif au travail, maladie, sentiments, etc...).
