This book called to you for a reason; do not ignore.
A Brief Description Of My StoryI am 33 years old now; about to be 34 in January. I have been on a self-improvement journey since I was around 22 years old. I had a panic attack while I was working at Starbucks in the middle of morning peak. I felt like I was going crazy, could not stop pacing back and forth and nothing felt real. I felt detached from everything and everyone to the point I tried splashing water on my face and doing push-ups. I waited until after peak to leave to make sure everyone was okay, but afterwards, I had to take a week off work to get myself back together. This is where my self-improvement journey started and realized how many bad habits and negative thinking patterns I developed over the years. I started eating and drinking healthy (black tea, hot teas for caffeine instead of adding sweeteners to them), exercising (with a focus on cardio), finding something to be passionate about (the environment), meditation (using Headspace; that I still use to this day), started dating again and most of all, focused on self-education by reading many self-improvement books and online articles. This book, Think and Grow Rich, has always shown up from recommendations and suggestions over the last 11 years from sites like Amazon, from influencers such as YouTuber's, from just searching for "Best Self-Improvement Books," and I never took it upon myself to pick this book up until recently. The large reason for this is because of the title itself. I felt it was more of a click-bait title as there is more than one way in life to be wealthy than just money. Don't get me wrong. Money is important but after we have enough for rent, utilizes and groceries, it's really about how we are giving back to society, and the people we interact with on a daily basis, even if it is just in passing.I Finally Gave In & Purchased A Copy 6 Months AgoAround six months ago I finally caved in and purchased a copy of this book from a different seller on Amazon. This was after another influencer I was following on YouTube recommended this book and after I also saw the reviews on Audible, I thought, lets give this book a shot. It was honestly a disaster. The copy I purchased from a different seller (not this one that I am currently reviewing) came on computer sized paper, large wording and the material itself was painfully repetitive. I genuinely could not believe this is one of the most popular titles in the market for self-improvement books. I stopped reading it after 50 pages as I just couldn't take it anymore. The entire first half of the copy could be summed up in one sentence: Invest in yourself; 10% every paycheck. Which is actually great advice and it did stay with me. However, it would have had the same effect if I just read it on a top quotes list. With that being said, I donated the book and left it at that.I Repurchased The Book But Now From This Seller That I Am Reviewing NowI honestly don't know why I repurchased this book. I think it just kept coming up again and again in my social media feeds and I was in the market for a new book to read. As well, it would arrive on the same day and the book looked much more genuine with the black covering and front cover design (simple but definitely authentic) than the copy I purchased the first time around. It was calling to me and I thought, alright, let's try this out one more time and I have to say, I am glad I did. This is the REAL book from Napoleon Hill. The other one I bought was more of a cliff notes/editors version of the book but marketed as the authentic "Think and Grow Rich" book by Napoleon Hill. The alarming part is that that one came highly rated and I read the reviews prior to buying it. Going back to it now, there are other reviewers who have come out since then and said the same as I did, and it's not the real book. This book is so much more different than the other one I purchased and now I can see why this is one of the most highly recommended books for self-improvement and life transformation. There is so much useful information in this one book that it is more of a manual and textbook than anything else. I have so many things highlighted here and have written down so many notes in my personal notebook (things I need to start doing per Napoleon Hill). This is also not a book you read only once. This is a book you read a few times over and even then, keep coming back to until you know the information by heart. If this is the only book I read for the next 12 months, I will still gain more knowledge and insight than if I started reading 12 other contemporary self-improvement books.I cannot recommend this book enough. It is the true version of Napoleon Hills "Think and Grow Rich" book. As for the title, which is what originally swayed me away from reading it, Napoleon Hill goes over this too where he says, paraphrasing here, 'If wealth is not your goal, replace it with whatever you like.' This could be healthy relationships with friends, family members or partner; it could be being in good health, landing your ideal job, etc.If you're a listener to people like Jim Rohn (search YouTube for "Jim Rohn - Full Seminar" or "Jim Rohn ~ How to Have the Best Year Ever! Full 4 hr video on Personal Development Life Coaching") or Les Brown and Earl Nightingale; you'll love this book and won't be able to put it down. I read this while taking the public bus to work and back, on my days off and when I can while I am at work. The information in this one book will save you years of time and will help you realign your direction in life so that it lines up with your vision.
