Good option for hojicha powder for making lattes
As a fan of hojicha lattes, it is already difficult to find cafes that offer such drinks. Therefore, I took a gander at Amazon to look for hojicha powder, as I have the capabilities to make them at home, and I enjoy the process as well.I purchased the 50 g Jade Leaf Barista Hojicha Powder bag to make hojicha lattes, which cost me $9.95. Hojicha, being roasted green tea leaves, yields a nuttier, earthy taste with a deeper roasted flavor compared to ceremonial matcha powder I've bought from Japan. The powder is ground very finely and doesn't require sifting, which is especially helpful when using the traditional method of mixing with a bamboo chasen whisk. The powder dissolves into hot water well and is a good pairing with milk or other milk alternatives such as oat or almond milk. The bag claims a single shot of hojicha is at a serving size of 1 gram (1/2 teaspoon) and 2 grams (1 teaspoon) for a double shot serving. I personally prefer a really rich hojicha flavor, so I use 4 grams (2 teaspoons), essentially a quadruple shot. Even if I will eventually finish the bag quicker, the higher intensity of flavor is something I enjoy more.In that case, the 50g/1.76 oz bag yields me about 12.5 servings. At $9.95, each serving of 4 grams/2 teaspoons costs me roughly $1.25. Considering the added cost of milk/milk alternatives, each latte I've made is about $2-$3, which is much more economical than paying $5-$7 for a hojicha latte from local cafes.I would recommend this powder to those interested in trying out hojicha as it does have the rich, deeply flavored and slightly roasted hojicha flavor I expect, but at a cheaper cost and better flavor than the few cafes that actually offer hojicha lattes.Overall, this product carries its value well, as it is both delicious and friendly to the wallet. Given this positive experience, I do plan on purchasing their Teahouse line of hojicha powder, as Jade Leaf claims on their website that the Teahouse variant is of a higher quality than their Barista powder.

Great quality
I really like this stuff. I'd purchased a smaller bag once before to try it out and I really liked it, I wound up going through it pretty quickly. I use it for drinks (regular matcha, matcha latte) and I used it to bake (it makes awesome banana bread). I've also added it to my protein shakes, which adds a delicious flavor and gives me a little caffeine boost. For the large bag that I ordered, it came with a bag inside of a bag (the big bag is resealable, the little one I clip shut inside of it). Here's all of my likes for it: the packaging helps it stay fresh because of the seal and the foil packaging; the bag size is great to use multiple times and not burn through it too quickly; the color of the powder is a beautiful, vibrant green, not dull or muted or suspicious looking in any way; it blends super easily with anything, I can get away with a spoon or just a protein shaker and it mixes beautifully; it smells amazing.Overall, it's a great product. I also bought this brand's little matcha whisk and their spoon for measuring, which I've learned I don't use either, so there wasn't a point in that I guess lol.

Incredible taste and amazing price
Because of the price, I wasn't expecting much but this hojicha is DELICIOUS. I bought the barista grade, because a lot of the reviews of the teahouse edition said it was grainy. The barista grade is not grainy at all and tastes amazing. I drink it in a warm oat milk latte after whisking it with warm (but not hot, otherwise it will taste bad) water, and it has an amazing chocolatey, nutty, roasted flavor. I've had expensive hojicha lattes from cafes before, but this was much better and way more cost effective. I will definitely rebuy again and again in the future.

Very Strong
I reccomend for people who are really into regular matcha already. The flavor can be oretty overpowering if you're not already used to drinking matcha.

Perfectly nutty and smooth
Perfect as a latte! I've only had one other hojicha and thought that it wasn't that great, but the Jade Leaf one is perfect! It's got a bitterness that's similar to coffee, but doesn't linger. It smells very umami, like seaweed but it goes away after you whisk it. No grainy feeling and very smooth! Lots of nutty notes and flavors when you add milk!

Gritty?
I got this one because I like the Jade Leaf matcha but I’m sorry to say I’m definitely not a fan of this one. Flavor wise it’s nice, but the texture is super gritty and not pleasant to drink unfortunately.

I Surprisingly Love It!!
I needed something with less caffeine in it, but I love my Matcha! So I gave Hojicha a try and was very surprised! I can taste the tiniest amount of coffee, a little more matcha, then ends with like a black tea. It's not as sweet as Matcha and is great with creamer (I use half & half).

Acquired flavor, not for me.
Personally, I couldn't tolerate this stuff. It stank and tasted terrible, and my boyfriend agreed but over time he said it grew on him. I'm also picky and don't like smelly drinks or bitter stuff. The brand however is great and I love the regular and vanilla flavor, just a hard pass on this one.
