I use this as a baby gate for my baby and toddler. The room it’s in doesn’t have a typical doorway, so the gate is positioned diagonally from the walls it’s attached to. It still works well, and it wasn’t too difficult to install either. My toddler hasn’t figured out how to unlatch the gate yet, which is a huge plus. As one reviewer mentioned, it’s possible for a baby to escape by wriggling beneath the gate. My toddler tried it once or twice when he was a baby, but he couldn’t do it when he got bigger.

I purchased this to keep my three year-old grandson on one side of a room and my dogs on the other. Turns out my grandson is as clever as my dogs. I mounted this above the toe mold on my baseboard per instructions, they were easy to follow. My dogs are smaller and are able to crawl under the less than half inch gap when the divider is open/expanded and my grandson is clever enough to unhook the divider from the mounting bracket whether it’s locked or not. So if using this for children, I recommend they not be able to reach where it hooks to close. I recommend if you are using this for dogs make sure it’s tight enough, and on the ground/floor they can’t get under it. Otherwise it’s very well-made. Installation was easy as long as you use a level and make sure that the top holes are the exact distance from the floor on each side to where you’re drilling. If not, the divider will sag.

Mounted two vertical boards with j bolts to the stair rails (to avoid screw holes in the woodwork) and mounted the brackets to the boards with screws. An effective and easy solution for the granddaughter when she visits and compact to store.

This gate works just fine, it's a little flimsier then another one we have and doesn't roll closed as easily.Serves its purpose and was super easy to install

Pros: Easy to use from either side, fits range of opening width, fully retracts well, can stay closed and not be locked, safe for outdoor use, right height for decks, attractive, multiple colors, removable base unit for off-season.Cons: tricky to install, requires drilling on both sides but doesn’t include template for where to drill, requires base pieces to be permanently installed on both sides of doorway, motivated dogs (and probably kids cunder 1) can inch under even when locked because of fabric design.We needed a deck gate to let our dog laze on our outdoor deck without a line getting tangled around deck furniture. It’s at the top of 3 outdoor steps. We needed something that easily opened and closed from both sides (not a pressure gate), was attractive (no plastics), durable for outside, easily removable for off-season, and could accommodate deck height (excluded most metal gates).I prefer the look of dark metal, but the only one we could find that met our requirements, was durable, and fit our deck opening was a very expensive, permanently installed metal gate with an extension. It was going to run around $300 or so. This is so much nicer once we were able to manually line up the drill holes. It’s so nice that it is barely noticeable when it’s not in use, something few gates can offer. It is about 4” or so fully retracted so we don’t bump into it when using the steps and elderly relatives don’t have a problem.I was pleasantly surprised to learn that with a click or two, the whole retracting unit removes leaving just 2 small plastic mounts on each side, so I don’t have to worry about snowy Northeastern winters or it coming off and damaging something during a hurricane.Our dog snuck under it once, but I don’t think he liked the experience especially since a step was immediately on the other side. I suspect he tumbled a little but didn’t see it. Perhaps if we’d installed it a little lower, but sometimes we just put a plant in front of it.

Love this gate!!! I’m not sure about y’all but my toddler is and escape artist! This gate now has her stumped! I love the way it releases right to the way so it isn’t in the way. It also has a lock on the gate to insure the material is tight and escape proof. It’s just so much nicer and a lot more durable than regular baby gates! Don’t miss out!! Must have!

This gate is perfect for top of our stairs. It retracts in, so not bulky or an eye sore when not in use. Color is perfect for my home, matching our curtains. Slight difficulty with install and attaching with the trim on our walls. It doesn’t lay flush so there’s a slight puckering when extended out. Overall not a huge deal but not perfect. Holds up when our roomba bounces against it. Overall we found it more functional than a plastic baby gate!

Gate is useful and have to observe proper locking when in use.
