This should be compulsory reading for all politicians
The Big Kahuna is what it says - the Big Kahuna.I hope I live to see the day when we abandon current thinking on how to create an equitable society and replace it with what this book talks about.Gareth Morgan for Presicent, I say.

Superb ideas, average writing
For the ideas in this book, I give a bazillion out of five. In my view the authors have come up with a more than credible plan for addressing welfare dependency, building a more productive economy, preventing welfare fraud, reducing inequality, and creating a more balanced society. If any country could implement a tax system like this one I believe it would be a major step forward towards a utopia. That's pretty strong, I realise, but this is the first time I've come across an idea that actually has a practical chance of making a big difference in the real world. For the writing I give a three out of five at most. It's densely written and uses way too many parentheses (which are very distracting, aren't they? (No? what about this one?)). I'd also like to see a "pamphlet" edition that's about 20% of the size, otherwise very few people will persevere through the book and the idea will never reach critical mass. Also the tables are very difficult to read on the Kindle.I very highly recommend the book to those who are interested in ways to improve the economy and society at large. But don't expect an easy read.

Time to reform NZ's taxation.
Excellent book by an accessible and respected economist. Unfortunately there are strong vested interests (baby boomers) who will block his much needed recommendations. Read it today!
