The Modern Witch's Spellbook, Book ll

I bought this book because it was the 1st spellbook I ever owned..call it nostalgia ..Its not that it's a bad book - it's a very "matter of fact" book. I've noticed there are a lot of strong opinions about whether this is a "good" book or "bad" - it seems very divisive .. And not in the sense that it is written poorly or very well. The opinions seem to all be based on the context. I saw a review that said ( to paraphrase) "Wiccans don't own the word *witch* " And I feel the same. I am a witch. But I am NOT a "Wiccan" - This book is NOT a book for Wiccans. It is a SPELLBOOK. Plain & simple . There are love spells, there are black spells - and a lot of it is about traditional, historical spells - Not to mention,the entertaining examples the writer uses involving stories about people who ask her what they could do in whatever their situation is. I will also say I have used spells from this book (like I said, my 1st spell book), and for a novice like myself, to my surprise,they were extremely effective. So if this is your first venture into spell casting,be cautious - I'm not being judgmental at all ..I made some less-then-cautious decisions myself. Just wanted to give a bit of helpful advice.

I purchased this book early in the 90's with interest in the craft. I was happy to find that not everyone was pagan/Wiccan. This book is a classic in its own right. She has several other books three of which have the same name. they focus on what is really folk magic from Europe, Hoodoo, Voodoo. It is not lady heart work, some strong spells for getting love to taking out an enemy. This is not Wicca, so please don't diss an author because the work is not fitting to your "style". Wicca is not the only style that exist in the world. Each has its place and right.

I bought this for a friend who wanted her boyfriend to leave and 4-6 months later he cheated on her and moved out. She used one of the "spells" in the book. So? Who's to say... It's worth a try in my opinion. I'm not a Wiccan and I've never done a spell in my life but I suppose it's worth a try lol

Don't worry about the negative reviews on this book. it has NOTHING to do with Goddess worshiping Wicca! if you want that look somewhere else, but if you want 2 learn about hoodoo sorcery this is what you will get. love spells, hate spells, divination, and some very good charms. this was the first book on witchcraft i have ever read and still is my all time favorite!!!!It was worth ever penny in my opinion!!!!
