Moving & uplifting at same time
She's only gone & done it! I've had to put this book down because I'm laughing too hard and because it is so recognizable it hurts. I have denied the truth so long because my DD is only 11 but here's a fact: I am mum of a teenager. A Sheenager, if you like. And it's hard. Thank God for Lorraine as I do now feel less alone and not quite so much as if I'm the Crazy One in our house...

A good, thought provoking read
Good, fun but thought provoking read. I’d recommend it to others.I have a 16yr old daughter and it made me take a step back on occasions rather than ongoing into full rant mode with her.Got to gauge what’s just pure teenage rudeness and call it out or teenage ‘growing pains.’ I guess pick your battles!

So helpful!
Thank you Lorraine for sharing your wisdom and experience of parenting teenage girls. So helpful to recognise the behaviours that can sometimes drive you insane! Thank you for sharing the pain of letting them fly as well as all the joys. All the best to you and your wonderful family xx

Hilarious, reassuring book! Buy buy buy!!!
Oh my goodness, I love this book. It reassured me no end that everything I'm experiencing in teenage parenthood is normal. Lorraine Candy has taken snippets of her own experiences and shared them, often hilariously describing events that I can hear occurring between my daughter and myself. The chapter on empty nest and them leaving home brought tears to my eyes. Buy this book, settle down with a large hot beverage and have a giggle whilst being reassured this crazy teenage parenting malarkey is going to be okay! (And so is your peri menopausal body!) Her podcast called Postcards from Midlife with.... (oh crikey I've forgotten her name - a menopause symptom again!) Well anyway the podcast is fab too. Thank you for your wisdom Lorraine :)

Really funny and truthful read.
My pre-teen asked why I was reading it and then proceeded to give me the eye-roll everytime she caught me reading a chapter, and if I laughed at a bit I got a tut. I am apparently "the worst". I am now Mum, never Mummy. I am no longer allowed to give her a hug at the school gate, or talk to her friends. I am categorically banned from ever having a Tik-Tok!!Thank you for this fantastic book which is preparing me for the years ahead. Thankfully my 7 year old still thinks Mummy is the best!

Best book currently about the teen years!.
This book by Ms. Candy is spot-on and extremely informative. (I read another very popular book by Phillipa Perry, which basically labeled the parents as villains.)This book by Ms. Candy however gives you real life information and help to navigate the sometimes difficult teen years for girls, and prepares you for possible upcoming situations and how to deal with them.I wish I had read this at the beginning of by daughter's puberty (12) as it would have saved us a lot of worry and heartache.THIS BOOK IS SPOT-ON!!

Brilliant Must Read for Parents
Don’t think twice. All parents of teenagers should read this. It talks about how to handle different aspects of a teenager’s life -anxiety, body issues, sibling rivalry, sex, tantrums, parties, drugs, college, peer pressure and more. Not every teenager will go through all of it but it’s prudent to read the book to know what to do if she goes through any of it.

Funny and so true!
I follow Lorraine Candy in her Podcast about midlife and already appreciated her good humour and tips/comments on the teenager world. I really enjoyed her book as it is a mix of personal experience and reference to science and what actually goes on in the teenage brain. It made me laugh and nod in agreement ... and also kind of reassured me that I am doing the best I can and I should not take it all so personally. I bought additional two copies for my friends going through the same roller-coaster years. I would definitely recommend it.
