Micro-Mark Mini Metal Shear/Brake

The units sold on Micromark web site are nicer, this discount price got me a unit that had cracks in the casting. Because I didnt open rite away I was not able to return. Even with crack in base unit works well.

Best packed of any heavy item like this that I've ever received. It arrived in good conditon, as if I'd picked it up at a depot myself. Works very well for what I use it for. I give 3 stars because the fence design is a pan to work with, could have been done a lot better; and frankly, they need to extend the crank shaft out both ends of the device, and drill it on both ends so you can use the handle on either end. Being right handed, I would prefer to hold my work with my right hand, and do less-precision movement (cranking the lever) with my left-hand. The fence is a pain to use-- because of the differing direction of threading on the screws you tighten to hold each end of it in place, one pushes the fence out, and the other pushes the fence in-- very, very hard to get it actually perfectly parallel to the cutting edge. Would have been much better to make the two rods that hold the fence, threaded, and then simply screw a nut on each end-- infinite accuracy, so when the nut is where you want it, the fence would be perfect.

The hole where the handle fits on the bender is oval (12.54mm x 11.18mm) while the handle is 11.77mm Diameter so the handle won't fit. The bracket on the support is not straight and has been manufactured completely out of true so it will not fit. (see Photo the right end). Rubbish.
