Letters from a Stoic
A**C
Seneca’s Epistles are relevant today as when he composed them 2,000 years ago.
It is a light weight, handy size to throw in a day pack to read in solitude on a ramble or a bicycle ride. Seneca provides a lot of ideas for one to think about and good, solid advice about everyday concerns. That it only contained about a third of the epistles I obtained all three volumes from the Loeb Library. For older readers the print is small and even with cheaters I had eye strain.

This is only 'Volume III' & the translation is by Richard Mott Gummere.
Just letting potential buyers know. Still a very good price.

Only volume 3
Bought this as a gift for my friend and one of the first things he pointed out was that it started at letter 46 or so. Disappointed.

Objectively - title is inaccurate. Subjectively - read M. Aurelius instead.
First of all the name on the listing should be changed. This is only volume three.Second of all, I’m glad it’s only volume three. I’m an avid reader. I love reading, but this book was like nails on a chalkboard. There are morsels of good information and good musings, but some of the things that Seneca discusses made me truly wish that I had not spent the time reading them. For someone who claims to be a stoic and have only practical philosophy, he spends a lot of time musing about things that have no impact in real life. Also, the language used in the book is tough to read, even for a rather seasoned reader (far harder than, say, Taleb or Peterson, since it has no personality). This might be an issue with the translation, though, rather than Seneca.Overall, I would rather have re-read Marcus Aurelius’s Meditations.

Not great but good
I like the topic in the book. The only thing is that the elaborated topics on the book is a little boring.

Print too small
Print is to small and pages are too big. It's like a skinny cliffs notes version of the real book.

I have not read these yet but I believe they ...
I have not read these yet but I believe they are worth the Kindel price. At least it is always worth reference.

Lots of food for thought
Seneca's work should be mandatory in a man's life. His observations are profound and evergreen, which is what philosophy is, after all.
