What's the difference between the military model and the aviation model? From what I can tell they're both the same except the aviation model pricier.

One has a red light the other has a green light. Also the mounting hardware for the helmet might be different since military aviation typically use ANVIS style mounts for their NVGs. Whereas the troops on the ground use the norotos mount for their NVGs.

does this come with the headband?

Yes, mine came with a really nice handband and another mounting clip.

Is there an attachment to make it more secure on my molle vest?

The clip it has on it is molle compatible.
