Perfect Size
Perfect size and the ferro rod is firmly secured to the wood handle. I like the fact that the wood is not stained or sealed. The striker works well, and after you scrape the black stuff off the rod it sparks very well. Took a napkin today outside and three strike's it was burning. Very nice and would highly recommend to others.

Showers of Sparks
I'm not sure if those that wrote poor reviews got a rod that was a dud, but the one I received works like a charm. As with any ferrocerium rod, you must prep it by striking it a couple of times prior to trying to get your spark. One or two prep strikes, and then this thing throws a shower of bright hot sparks. Using the striker that comes with it you should have no problems. It's a great deal for just under $10.

Good quality at a good price.
Good quality. Sparks very well with both striker and both knives Ive tried it with. Good size handle and comes with a good striker and a long enough cord to be easily worn around the neck.

doesn't create sparks
I think it's the striker that is faulty as opposed to the flint rod, but I'm not completely sure. All I know is that it barely generates any spark no matter how much force/pressure I put on it while striking it.It's not user error. I have numerous other flint and steel strikers (because I teach wilderness survival to scouts) and have no issues getting ample sparks out of all of those others.I wouldn't buy this product again nor would I recommend it for anyone. You can get a better performing item for less money.

It works, but not well.
It doesn't work very well. Does it throw sparks? Yes. Can it start a fire? It can. But there are products out there (e.g. Friendly Swede) that do it a lot better.

Ok product but did have simple issue could have been worse if u were interested the woods
Good spark, nice striker, good cord for necklace, but my ferro rod feel out of the wood end. Luckily at home while checking a new knifes ability to strike it but still I've never used it beside testing it the day i bought it. Nothing some super glue wouldn't help but that's what's upsetting the manufacturer can spend 1 more cent on glue and it's good to go. Over all good product though stuff happens

Feels good, works great.
Good fire starter for bushcraft and camping. I have other fire starters, but wanted one with a wood handle on it, and I’m glad I picked this one up. I added a couple of drops of Balistol to the handle, to start the process of oiling/aging the new wood and took it outside, to scrape a layer of coating off the fire steel and paint off the striker. A minute later it is throwing good sparks. I used for quite a while, to check wear rate, and it looks like I’ll be using this one for a long time! The size of the handle and steel make it easy to control. I will probably use this with a flat ground Mora knife spine, instead of the included striker, but it’s nice to have one included with the paracord attachment, since the striker also has a beer opener on it, as well!Safe travels and God bless!
