Bought this to extract files from some old PATA drives I have in safe storage. I have tried 6 drives now and not one of them successfully mounts. Strange thing is that 2 of the 6 drives have at least sent out ID information as I can see their manufacturer codes appear (e.g. WDxxxx for one of the Western Digital drives). All the drives have power and spin up but there appears to be an issue with the data connection and not a single one mounts – the volume doesn't even appear as available as opposed to an invalid format or requiring initialisation. The layout of the board is very tight too (between the power block and SATA connector) and connecting my board-based SATA adapter to it was a bit of a squeeze. In retrospect, the positive reviews here appear to be a bit generic!

Worked once then stopped, tried various DVD & Hdd drives no longer working after 1 day....nuff said!

I needed something to power my PC case's RGB controller, and unfortunately by PSU did not have any molex connectors. I am not really a fan of a ketchup and mustard cables, so I was pretty happy when I found this adapter. The adapter works as it should and transforms any sata power connector to a molex one.

I used this adapter to connect an old 20 pin SATA drive to a SATA III/ USB adapter, which I connected to my PC to read files off an old drive. Worked fine, just needed to move the jumper over like it says in the product description. Worked great, especially for the price

This is a nice gadget to connect an IDE drive to a SATA board. It connects to the existing SATA power and data cables on one side. On the other side,it connects to the IDE drive data connector and also feeds the IDE drive with power using the small cable included in the package.The fit was excellent and snug I didn't have to worry about the adapter falling off once I closed the PC box. It looks flimsy but I wouldn't worry about that look because it is sturdy enough to do the Job. The drive is working perfectly on the SATA board. I didn't have to change anything in the BIOS. This adapter makes the motherboard see the IDE drive as a SATA drive.There are no instructions which is the only downside. But what do you expect at $8 CAD?!Here is how to connect it if you're wondering. It's best done with the IDE drive out of the computer. First, plug the lose power cable shipped with the unit into the adapter. Make sure you line up the holes on the smaller cable end with the 4 jaws on the adapter and slide gently till it stops and latches. Then plug the IDE male part of the drive into the adapter IDE side. At this point you can reinstall the drive into its slot in the computer. Connect it to the board using the SATA power and data cables you already have in the PC. What is left is to feed power to the IDE drive by inserting the lose end of the short power cable from the adapter into the four pronged power input slot on the the IDE drive.If you did everything right, reboot and the drive comes alive. As always be careful with static electricity and either wear plastic gloves or touch the computer metal chassis before you touch anything inside it.
