OtterBox Commuter Series for Samsung Galaxy S8 - Frustration FRĒe Packaging - Bespoke Way (Blazer Blue/Stormy SEAS Blue)

This case was sturdy and durable, my husband used it for a long time. It fit his phone well and it was nice and sleek.

Have always been a fan of the Otterbox Commuter. The last case I had was the same, and when it FINALLY broke after a few years of use (and abuse), I replace with another Commuter, just in a a different color. To me, it hits all the essential needs of a case while still maintaining a very low, slim profile. So it's still very easy to carry around in my pocket and hold in my hand. The top and bottom have a lip on them that extend a little distance above the screen so that if you drop your phone face-down, those extensions catch the phone before the screen touches the ground. You can lay your phone face-down without fear of scratches because those extensions keep the front of the phone elevated off of (even) surfaces. It fits very well so that none of my buttons, my camera, or biometric scanner are obstructed, and it features pieces on the bottom that cover the charging port and aux port, keeping them free of moisture, dust, and debris. My only criticism is that the speaker hole is left unprotected, but I'm not sure how I would fix that if I were asked to redesign it. If I were working on a contruction site, I'd probably want a Defender, but for home and office, Commuter is mmy go-to.

I got a new Samsung Galaxy S8 and, in the several hours after the purchase while I was trying to order a new Otterbox case, I dropped the phone several times because the phone by itself is so slippery! I could not find many choices of Otterboxes in local stores, so I went online. Amazon had the cases for half the price than Otterbox's website (this was black Friday), so I ordered both the Defender and the Commuter series since I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I had the Defender on my old S5, and although it was great since the whole shell is rubber and super protective (the phone never cracked despite many drops on pavement), it made the phone look twice the size. Once I received both new cases from Amazon, I tried the Commuter series first. It is super slim, yet still has 2 protective layers (rubber and plastic). Unlike the Defender series where most of the outer shell is rubber, most of the outer shell of the Commuter series is plastic. I think it's the best of both worlds - the Commuter series is nice and slim (unlike the Defender), but it feels protective, and the plastic does not slip from my hand. I know some review said the Commuter was slippery, but I don't think that's true. It is a huge improvement on the phone by itself which was so slippery I dropped it several times in an hour!Note that, due to the S8's rounded edge screen, there is no screen protector on the Commuter case (nor the Defender case). However, the Commuter edge goes right up to the screen edge without blocking any part of the screen, and the bottom and top edges are raised to sort of make up for the lower side edges and lack of screen protector. I also like that the Commuter is really easy to take on and off, plus it has covers for the charger and headphone ports to help keep dust out. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my purchase!

Just got my Otterbox this weekend and I have to say it is a great case for a great price.Highlights:1. The case is not overly bulky. It is a rubber/neoprene like case that has a plastic bezel over it for all around body protection. The shape of the case allows the edges to be accessible yet is still pronounced at the top and bottom edge so that the face/screen is protected in case the phone falls face first on a flat surface. If it is a jagged surface, your screen won't have any protection. I can't take any points off for this as you can get a screen protector separately and it is not billed as part of the case. That would be like complaining that your meal didn't come with a salad when they already told you you don't get a salad but you can buy it ala carte.2. I have a wireless charger and the phone does charge through the case.3. One of the problems I had with the S8 was that I could never hear the audio as I held the phone in landscape orientation. My fingers naturally blocked the speaker. Now with the case on, my fingers don't block the speaker. I guess you *could* see this as a negative since I used to be able to quickly mute my phone by covering the speaker.Lowlights:I haven't really come across any with the case. It feels solid, gives very good access and protection for the form factor of the phone and allows me to charge both wired and wirelessly. I am very happy with this purchase. If I had to say one, it would be that Amazon lowered the price by about a dollar after I already ordered mine. At this price you should go buy one!
