Lids pretty easy to install once I figured out how to do it!
I am a fan of Gamma lids! They are easy on, easy off and perfect for airtight storage that you need to be able to get into frequently. I chose the 3.5 gallon buckets because the 5 gallon buckets would be too heavy for me to handle when filled. They are a good size for long term storage.Initially I thought I wouldn't be able to install the rim. I don't have the strength I used to have. I wasn't able to get the o-ring to snap on tightly. I tried using a rubber mallet, I tried turning the bucket upside down on a towel and pressing on it. Each time I pressed down another side would pop up. I liked the idea of sitting on it, but my knees don't let me go down that low.I finally stumbled onto a way that worked for me. To install the o-ring rim, I removed the inner gamma seal lid and set it aside. I held the bucket on my lap, tilted the o-ring to get it under the rim of the bucket at one spot and squeezed it together until it clicked. At this point, one spot was clicked-in tightly and the other side was up in the air. I sat the bucket upright on the floor in front of me with the clicked-in section facing away from me (the section up in the air was toward me). I stood over the bucket and placed my hands on the clicked-in section of the rim so that the heel of my hands were on the inside of the bucket and my fingers were on the outside. I pressed using the heel of my hands onto the rim where it had been clicked into place--using my upper body weight to push down and a little toward the outside. I worked counter clockwise pressing down around the rim of the bucket moving about an inch at a time. The lid squeaked with each press until I got back to the starting spot when the rim finished with a click. I checked around the top and everything looked good and felt snug. The only thing left was to spin on the Gamma Seal lid--finished!I found the lids to pretty easy to install once I found a method that worked for me!

Strong and Food Grade
These are my first experience with the gamma lids and I find them very tough and convenient. One caveat... I had to have my man press the rings for the lids onto the buckets as it was too difficult for me even with a mallet (note that the instructions say to do this by hand). Also I love the size because they are much easier to lift/move than the 5 gal.

VERY DIFFICULT TO ASSEMBLE
Know that if you purchase this, it will take a very strong man to assemble the lid. I ordered from the same company earlier. The containers were a mottled white. No problem with these containers. This time the containers are white, not mottled, and they are a bear to assemble.

Gamma Rings Don't Fit Update
I tried using a rubber mallet and firmly tapping, put full pressure on one side and tapping. I turned the bucket with the gamma ring upside down and used a rubber mallet. I even tried standing on the bucket. The gamma ring fell off every time. I viewed videos using gamma lids and putting on the rings. None had the rings falling off after firmly tapping with a mallet like these do. Update: I contacted the company about my difficulty in getting the lids on. They responded promptly and worked with me to resolve this issue. Great customer service!

Excellent size for older women to carry and Great price
I got 6 food grade buckets WITH GAMA LIDS and I couldn’t be more happy! The size is perfect for me trying to carry full of grains. The 5 gallon are nice but I am unable to pick up due to cervical spine damage. This is 3 gallons and the price was very fair!

This is not your regular big box home center bucket
The buckets are sturdy and heavy. Uniform appearance all the way around without any bulges, serrations or defects that would prevent attaching the lid. The ring seal snaps into place and fits snugly and tightly. I have not tested whether they are airtight or watertight, but they appear to be. The gamma seal lids screw in firmly. Really good quality. And, most importantly, MADE IN THE USA. Buy American.
