How do you detach the cab from the trailer? Tried pulling the two pieces apart but they're not coming apart and I don't want to force it.

I took the flat end of a spoon (the part that you hold) and wedged it between the red trailer part and the black truck part. I pushed it down to create a lever movement. I pushed pretty hard. There was a loud sound when the pieces dislodged from each other. Now, the parts separate easily. They still stay together well too.

What scale are the cars that fit inside Mack?

They are the smaller scale, just a bit bigger than something like Matchbox or Hotwheels. The one car that comes with it is all plastic, very light, slightly smaller than most small sized Cars vehicles that you buy separately. Regular sized Cars vehicles will fit, maybe one or two.

Does the back door open without opening the top?

I have two trucks like this. A small one where I have to open the side panel to then push the back door open from inside. There is no latch or handle on my backdoor to pull it open. On my big unit that opens to a racetrack, the roof has to be opened and separated first to then layout the track. Hope this helps.

Is luigi metal? and is this mack less nice than deluxe?

No Luigi is plastic and I ended up returning this for a different one.
