Great chain saw!
Just got this EGO chain saw, and I love it. I have had a Stihl gas model for decades, and although it has always worked well, I sometimes dread having to deal with the 2 cycle engine- hard to start, sometimes quits running and can't get it restarted. I researched different model cordless saws, and this model EGO sounded good. I don't have a lot of cordless power tools yet, and if I am buying into a specific companys 'family' to share batteries with various tools, seems EGO has one of the better reputations.I used the EGO saw this weekend to cut up a large pine tree which had broken off and fallen, and was surprised how well it worked on it. Almost seemed more powerful and efficient than my Stihl gas model, and I loved just having it stop in between cuts, and only running it when actually bucking the tree, vs the gas saw running (hopefully) constantly, with the noise and fumes. And when running, the EGO is so much quieter than the gas saw too. Nice! I'm definitely turning into a convert, to use cordless vs. gas engine tools after this. Very pleased with this saw.

Good medium duty saw
UPDATE: 2/9/25 This battery as well as a Waitley I bought in tandem, fully charged were drained after 1 month of sitting. Inconvenient and very disappointing. I've never experienced this in a cordless battery on any of other tools. ORIGINAL: I've been cutting firewood on and off for 33 years. My horse has been a Stihl 036. I now have two having acquired another and rebuilding both this year. Also bought a Chineseeum Holzt.....361 knockoff 2 years ago that has displayed several severe quality issues which, if I had it to do over, I'd have bought a used 361 and rebuilt it which leads me to why I bought this jazzy electric machine. I always carry two saws into the woods and recently have run into issues where both gas saws go down one after another for the stupidest of reasons. So...I decided to try this new fangled machine as a backup to cut nothing bigger than 8" (opting for the 16" bar) and it does admirably. The 4 AH battery cut, I estimate, 1/3+ rick of semi dry hickory in its debut. I had a second Waitley 5AH but decided to whip out the ol' Stihl to finish up the load with some 12" stuff. Something to be alert too is the light weight will have you carrying it around one handed. I was moving around in semi brush to get to one downed top holding the saw by the handle, blade down and my thumb depressed the safety and being I had the trigger depressed it started rotating. Caution is advised as there is no way your going to be able to swing this thing around or hold it one handed WITHOUT depressing said trigger-it was a natural reaction to the lack of weight. Treat it like a firearm and you'll be ok. It cuts well overall and you do need to use more downward pressure than a gasser but it isn't anything to gripe about as there is zero vibration and doesn't treat your arms like an out of control orgasmatron. The chain tensioner is easy breezy as my chain stretched a couple of times and it was so nice not to have to get out tools for the job- it took mere seconds. The kerf is narrow which aids in cutting more wood and I couldn't bog it down as well so torque is strong. I could see this making a very good arborist saw as it is very light and safe as the chain brakes immediately upon release of the trigger. It isn't at all loud either. I like it for a medium duty, intermittent use saw. So, if you plan on loading up a full size pickup bed with stacked rick- you'll need about 3 big batteries.

A great Alternative!
I’m 71 and in fair health. This chainsaw surprised me very pleasantly. It was easy to use and comfortable to operate. I decided to take a chance with a battery operated saw because I have been having trouble pull starting my older gas saw. By the time the battery was depleted I was ready for a rest anyway! I got a lot of work done and am very happy with the results. It’s also nice not having the noise and smell of my old gas saw. No more mixing gas and oil and spilling some each time. A very satisfied customer indeed!!!

It does what it says it does.
I initially had reservations about this product, but I’m delighted with how simple it is to use and how lightweight it is. I encountered no issues with oil leakage; simply pour the oil back into the oil can. The battery life is sufficient for the tasks I perform around the house. The price was reasonable, and the entire unit was perfectly suited for my home improvement needs.

EGO 16" cordless chainsaw is a winner so far
My Husqvarna gas 22" chainsaw finally died a slow death as I finally gave up trying to adjust it seasonally over the last few years. A 16" size electric (40cc equivalent) alternative was not my optimal choice. However, even the testing process went well. Happy. Limb and tree cutting of pine, juniper, and mountain mahogany is a seasonal necessity where I reside. It's not a pro saw requirement area, but a decent chainsaw precludes hiring the experts until it's a must. The battery charged quickly, and, after adding some bar oil to the reservoir, I was cutting through 4" limbs effortlessly. Then I switched over to an 8" tree. Easy! Finally, I proceeded to cut it into firewood lengths with no issue. Battery remained well charged throughout my 1/2 hour test.Obviously the chain is new, which helps in the process. And I know that the cost of the battery represented a good chunk of the purchase price. But there is much to be said about ease of use without the time consuming process of 50/1 gas/oil mixing, priming, choking, and chainsaw tightening/adjustments -- all associated with my "not ancient" gas chainsaw. The urge to get some work accomplished might perhaps NOT be dampened through the mental image of engine adjusting and pulling a starter cord.I still need to really put it through it's paces. Can it cut through a 12" tree easily? Does the oil keep the chain properly lubricated? Overheating? Durability? Battery efficiency?I hope to update, but so far, I'm a happy amateur.

I ran out of energy before it did!
I wish I would have bought this long ago! I cut everything in the photo on one battery charge! And it wasn't drained yet!It seems heavier than my old gas saw, but it's worth its weight in gold!No more stinky and messy oil, gas, and exhaust fumes. No more hearing protection needed. I'm extremely happy with this purchase!
