Amazing, Educational & Fun - Everything a toy should be!
Bought this for my just turned 5 year old Grandson to demonstrate how the "gyro-helicopters" and "drones" work. He is a kid with everything and is deep into Legos. We watched the videos and he was super excited about getting one. Not being in the stores, we had to wait for delivery. Every day he was filled with anticipation of this "magical gift" He actually got a new bike for his birthday and shocked his parents by only asking if the "gyroscope" had arrived. The gyroscope came in his favorite color "neon green" and it was an immediate hit. The gyroscope itself works flawlessly and can actually spin for a couple of minutes. We purchased the old string model as well and this one is certainly better built and the pull piece made it easy for him to use it with ease. There probably are not enough words to express how much he loves this "toy" He gives shows to whoever is around showing the tricks and spends countless hours just spinning it in every variation. Three months later, I see him during my calls on Facetime, still being obsessed with and showing me his latest trick. When I say "trick" he actually is dropping the spinning gyroscope on the floor and it just spins away. I strongly recommend this gyroscope as a great teaching and fun filled toy.

Sturdy and spins great
The media could not be loaded. I got this to replace the metal one I got for my son last year. I bought it specifically because the plastic frame is attached to the gyroscope. His metal one didn't sit snuggly inside anymore and he couldn't pull the string without it detaching, so he couldn't make it spin fast enough. This one is very sturdy and durable. It spins great and he loves it. The only con is that the rip cord-which is WAY easier than threading a string each time, does wear out fairly quickly. It's still working after 2 months of use, but I can see that the threading on it is starting to wear down already. While it may not be a top precision model, I think for what you pay for it it's a great toy with fun coolness factor.

The best gyroscope you can buy but the stand is plastic
This is one of the best gyroscopes you can spin with a ripcord which is a huge plus. I own many of the older heavy duty metal ones you have to use a string to spin. This is not quite as solid but the build quality is still very good. The only downside is the plastic stand is not heavy enough to stabilize the gyroscope. I've had to use metal stands from other gyroscopes I own with this.

Wobble Wobble Wobble
The media could not be loaded. I thought how bad can it be. I bought 3 for xmas presents. All 3 wobble so badly you can't even get a feel for what a gyroscope is supposed to teach you. You can hold it still and as soon as you let go it immediately starts vigorously shaking. Terrible quality. All 3 are being returned. Sad.

Educational, entertaining, captivating.
Great little gyroscope. It spins for a good minute. This is my second one, My first was purchased for me by my mother over 10 years ago, it was this same model. The only difference that I can tell is the weight rings in these newer ones don't look as smooth and well finished as mine from years ago which still operates fantastically. My old one has a little more slop and play in it as it has seen hours of use. this new one spins great!I haven't had problems that some users have with the rip cord getting ruined. I am careful to insert it straight and pull it out straight. I don't take it easy though, I pull it as hard as possible to really get a good spin and boy does it spin!Brought it into the office and employees got a kick out of seeing how it works. (I work with a bunch of engineers so the physics conversations really started flowing)

Not easy to spin up
This gyro is a lovely toy, but found it difficult to spin-up using the geared plastic pull cord. It tended to 'skip' gears and slide if pulled too vigorously, so left gyro with low spin up, which quickly spins down. Trying demos as pictured, like one gyro balanced on the other's axis, lasted a few seconds. Tried pulling with string, not much better results, so kind of disappointed. Though, it's still a pretty toy.

Terrible Build Quality Resulting in Unbalanced Frame
It's heavy, which is good, it gives a more definite feel of the "gyro-power" that resists any attempts to move it. Flipping it upside down while it's going gives an awesome feeling as it 'resists' your turning. But ^^^ is if you're holding it with your hand. Which I can say was not the reason I got this.I, just like most of you I'm assuming, bought this to display it to friends and family on tables and such.(Quick note, the heaviness of it creates a momentum far far greater than any friction the lil black base displayed in the picture can havethus the base will actually be moved around by the force of the gyro, rendering it utterly useless. You'd have like superglue it down because I don't think any form of tape would be strong enough. Base = light and small, gyro = heavy and big)Anyways, the gyro I got was a green one, not a blue like depicted, but that was fine really. It came with a ripcord mechanism very very similar to bey-blades (toy tops) therefore, launching this thing is incredibly easy. There is a small hole and string included if you like to push this thing with like a kitestring or something.Given all of this however, there was one major flaw. The outer horizontal ring you see, the thin one, is un-proportional. One side of it is clearly larger than the other. This unbalance causes this gyro to quickly fall out of balance. IE: land on it's side/topple over.Gyros are supposed to stay upright or whatever position you put it in for a while, but the most I could get was about 60 seconds before it started wobbling and fell to its side. And that was with a complete upright stance. If you lean it at all, it's even less time. All the while, the gyro is wizzin all over the place like a beyblade if you put it on a flat surface.Obviously, this was one gyroscope out of many. But I do suspect that even if you get one that is perfectly symmetrical, any drop on it's side will bend the ring because it doesn't feel sturdy. Conclusion: it works, but not well enough to offer vastly more entertainment than frustration.
