A Well Made Knife Honer
I bought this specifically to sharpen the curved blades of my karambit knives, for which it works very well. It should be noted that this is not a "sharpening tool", per se, but a honing tool. It is made to increase the sharpness of an already sharp blade that has gotten slightly dull. It is well made and incorporates a sharpening angle in the handle. I have only used it on my karambits and a few kitchen knives so far, and I've only had it for a few weeks, so I can't speak to its longevity or durability. It does put a very keen edge on knives. My kitchen knives slice through tomatoes effortlessly, making slices so thin they are almost transparent if I want to do that. I don't think it will work on serrated knives. Again, it won't do anything for a really dull blade. But if you have a knife that has lost that fine edge from use, this will restore it to almost razor sharpness.

Excellent Ongoing knife sharpening tool.
Outstanding accompaniment to the Ken Onion Worksharp knife sharpening machine. Just a few 17-20* swipes and you knife edge stays razor sharp.

This Hone is Impressive
This hone is round for sharpening serrated knives. I used it on a Global knife, and the results were surprising. A few strokes per indentation on the knife and it was very sharp. A couple of strokes on the reverse side removed the burrs. The hone had a little gray residue on it which easily wiped off. I used the hone on a bread knife and steak knives with impressive results.

Gets the job done!
I was expecting this is a slick ceramic that didn't remove much metal but this thing can really clean up an old blade. Didn't take long to whip my wife's drawer of abused kitchen knives into shape. Angle guide on handle was super helpful and the ceramic was course enough to sharpen much more quickly than I anticipated. The edge it left on the knives ready for stropping. A few strokes on the leather strop and they were wicked sharp. Super happy with this purchase.

Gets a decent edge on your kitchen knives
Good quality ceramic rod. It's great to keep your knives tuned up between sharpenings. It gives a kitchen knife a good sharp edge that's sufficient for every practical task (cutting tomatoes and all that). If you require the highest possible level of sharpness out of principle, then this is not for you. Sharpness is slightly less than what you'd get with a worksharp belt sander (like the Ken Onion) and a fine belt. The 20 degree angle guide that's integrated in the handle is surprisingly useful. Even if you don't sharpen to 20 degrees, you're probably somewhere in the 15-25 degree angle, and it's quite nice to have a 20 degree reference.
