If you want something different, do something different!
If insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results, then I have been flat-out crazy in my job search. I've followed the old "tried and true" conventional wisdom that I've used for years. And, when I have experienced uninspiring results (which happens a lot in this economy), my conclusion has been that I must not be doing enough so I've applied myself even more strenuously to those same activities. What a discouraging, depressing, and fruitless grind! If you want out of that cycle as badly as I did, you absolutely must get this book (read it - use it).I'm not going to go into all the specifics about the tips and techniques - other reviewers here have done a much better job than I can. I want to touch on two critical intangibles David and Jay have given me through this book - HOPE and PERMISSION.As I mentioned, a job search can be a real grind - my hat is off to anyone else going through the process. It takes a tremendous amount of emotional wherewithal to keep slugging away at it. And for those of you who have done it my way, you have my respect for your tenacity and my sympathy as well. Everybody wants to be wanted and a traditional job search means a lot of rejection. I don't care who you are - that's a tough thing to drag your butt out of bed to face every morning.Years ago I considered myself a poor negotiator. I had a lot of underlying beliefs about it that just weren't serving me well, but I couldn't get past them. They were borne out of, and repeatedly reinforced, by opinions of others around me (conventional "wisdom"). At the recommendation of a trusted colleague, I attended a negotiation training seminar. It was like someone threw a switch! Today I am a very successful negotiator, and reflecting back on that pivotal moment, I can see that what I really needed (in addition to solid tips and techniques) was permission from a credible source to leave my old ways behind. And, the techniques were so effective that I almost felt like I was getting away with something.Well, my experience with this book has been similar, but much more so. I needed PERMISSION to break out of the job search conventional wisdom fed to me by (well-intentioned) peers and professionals. I needed someone who was credible, expert and proven to give me a much-needed wake-up call to break out of my rut. If you are anything like me, you may have even considered many of the techniques in the book before but dismissed them as too maverick or "out there." First, they aren't. It's a new world out there - the old way of job seeking no longer works. If it was working for you and me, we wouldn't be looking for books like this. Second, if you like what you've been getting, keep on doing what you're doing. Not me. Not any longer. I want results and I want to take the shortest path to them, working smarter, not harder. This book is the answer. And, the techniques are so effective, I again feel like I'm getting away with something (which is a lot of fun)!It doesn't take much to see how David and Jay have given me the other intangible I mentioned: HOPE. The simple truth is that there hasn't been one thing they recommend that hasn't gotten me results. I get traction immediately with every technique I employ. Plus, I need these victories along the way. They help to feed my motivation, actually make the process exciting and enjoyable, and propel me dramatically down the path towards my goal. That's something I never expected in a job search - enjoyment. And, the real bonus is the steps I'm taking now not only help me in my present search. I'm convinced that they are setting me up for much further down the road. I'm confident that if I ever find myself in this position again, I'll not have to worry much at all because I will have already taken the steps to ensure that I've graduated from someone who looks for jobs to someone who is sought out for jobs. Don't you want the same? This book is your solution!

If you want/need a job - get this book and follow the instructions!!
I was 8 months without a job and tried everything "old school" to find a job - no luck!! But you know what - as Gary Player said "The harder you work, the luckier you get!!" Yes, LUCK does play an important part in you getting a job - BUT how do you get "lucky" - stay focus here - I'm talking about JOB HUNTING!! To really stand out from the crowd - as we business types learned from school - you have to "differentiate", be different from the crowd/masses, it could be the "coffee invitation" or a special report you found that would help the company. Great, so how do you "be different" and get "luckier" with your job hunting amongst the tens of thousands out there? This guide shows you the step by step way to "market" YOU!! You'll learn and apply different approaches to not only the traditional ways of job hunting but also what the current trends are and how to use the latest online platforms to add ammunition to your arsenal to hit your target dream job!!As I mentioned above, I was out of work for 8 months and I have heard from other people who are still looking after 12 months, 18 months, 24 months....it's a very sad situation indeed!! Having been thru to the process - I cannot emphasize enough the need to be different - I got this book around mid-May 2011. Before getting this, I had already rewritten my resume of 4 pages a million times and had the 2-page, 3-page 4-page versions for all kinds of different roles. The "shot gun" approach!! Nothing worked!! So, instead of hitting my head against the same brick wall and hoping for a different result - I decided to apply the "rules of engagement" from GMJH 3.0!My 1-pager resume started to get noticed and even though I didn't get offers straight away - recruiters were calling back - YES, they were calling back!! - saying how great the resume looked and how concise the information was which really helped them to understand what I was looking for and my skill sets. I wasn't getting many call backs from the "coffee" invitations but I thought it was early days and just kept going and moving onto new contacts, A couple of weeks passed with similar feedback and then boom I was called in to talk to a number of financial institutions and some startups - these were my target groups! Another week went by and I got the job offers - not a huge amount - but hey, all I needed was 1 offer - right! Well, I actually had a number of offers to choose from!So did the book helped me find a job - that's a YES!!! But it's not a book - it's a guide to help you plan, structure and attack the daunting task of finding your next job! It's the blueprint to a campaign that you will need to take to heart and make real! It's the action plan that YOU have to work on day in and day out to you achieve the results you are looking for! Yes, it's hard work and cannot and must not delegate it to recruiters or online jobs sites - just because you think you have uploaded your resume there. It's not a silver bullet to your solution but I think the book is worth much much more than anything you can place a value on. It directs you to new ways of thinking, new approaches to present yourself in a new way, it asks you to take risks that you would never do or even know how to start doing. Now sitting on the other side of the hiring table, I can see from the scores of resumes arriving from job seekers all the things GMJH tells you not to do. I do get back to the applicants and when not asking them into the interview, I ask them to review their resume and get and use the GMJH 3.0 approach. So I do believe you can create your own luck as Gary Player said, I would add that you not only work hard but find a way to work with new tools and one of the best tools around to help you is GMJH 3.0!Jay and David thank you for sharing your knowledge!

How do you Rapidly Adapt For Better Business Results in Your Life?
I like to get results fast and use technology and media to amplify my natural human ability to achieve even more (read about Force Multiplier Effect in this book). Within minutes my LinkedIn profile improved using tips in the "Winning Edge" section. This book also helps because it is straight forward, well written and easy to use. I got a hard copy in addition to Kindle so I can highlight and fold pages in this handy survival guide (you will want to refer back to it for ample online resources it details). Its a good balance of provocative motivation to achieve (challenge/encouragement to stand out and be noticed, to ask specifically for what you seek) and practical new "hard realities" of career advancement that everyone needs to embrace and adapt to when hunting the next big opportunity where your skills can add value to your employer and/or your clients and you can best enjoy a fulfilling career aligned to your professional passion to be a top performer.
